What TWO guns would you want more than any other...

I missed that forward ring in the other picture.

Never heard of that type of mount, that's great you can go off/on and not have to sight it in again, I was wondering about that.

My Dad never had more than 3 guns in his life. He had a 12 gauge semi-auto Remington and a Winchester .22 semi-auto which sufficed him for most of his life. The .22 was for squirrels and the shotgun did everything else. He finally bought a .308 semi-auto ( I still have that gun) when in his 50s for deer hunting when he found the 12 gauge too limiting in range for open fields.

If we are talking apocalyptic scenario and I had some kind of motorized transport, then I would say a 12 gauge and a 30-06 would do everything you needed. I would choose the 30-06 due to the amount of military surplus ammo that is available and 30-06 and might be easier to find than some others like .300 WM. Of course 5.56 military ammo might also be easily obtained so it would be a tossup as to which of those two high powered rounds would be best.

My other choice would be for a rifle and pistol in .22 WMR. since I could carry a thousand rounds pretty easily if it was necessary to be constantly on the move and I had no motorized transport.

But that's just me.
BTW, got my first deer ever this week with the Remington.
