What type of 220v outlet?

Not knowing what the car will have is the big question mark.

If you are sure the car will have the 14-50 (4-wire) cord.....then wire a 4-wire outlet to match. Buy a 4-wire plug and wire to the welder and ignore the neutral. (just don't hook it up).

With the uncertainty, I'd rather have a 4-wire setup and not need the 4th....than have a 3-wire setup and need the 4th wire. Its easy to change a plug on the end of the cord to match the outlet as opposed to pulling new wire to make the outlet have a 4th wire

I have a TIG and a MIG. I got tired of unplugging. I did it like this.

Someday I will weld TIG with my right hand cuz I'm right handed. While at the same time running the MIG with my left (cuz MIG is easier). That way I can get my welding done without exceeding the duty cycles and of course the horrible, and frequent PITA of wasting time while the machine cools down.

Yeah but it's real nice to NO longer have to plug & unplug welders.

I’ve also done similar. Wall plugs

I have a list from my wife of cars she's considering (not Tesla) and they all seem to use 6-50 plugs on their chargers.

I may just put a small sub panel in the garage as I could use another 110 circuit. I am planning a shop but it'll probably be a year or more before it's built and useable.
