Just last nite I am brush hogging along a highway, thinking of this post and WHOOOMP what the heck was that....turns out some loser threw a big couch cushion into the tall weeds. Big noise, fabric and stuffing went flying in every direction, including all over me and the hood - kindof funny, but took a while to clean up.... /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

I suspect that "loser" got home from his trip to get his new couch and found out one of the cushions blew off. Might have even went back to look for it. Based on your descritpion, I guess he didn't find it -- or at least he didn't find much of it.

"That guy's one cushion short of a full couch!"

We had a contractor break a 12 inch high pressure gas main once, and set fire to about 100 feet of partially backfilled sewer trench. No real damage, but it suuure got hot. The erie part was it was a bright sunny day and the flames were invisible. You could see "heat" rising from the area, that was all. When you got to within about 100 feet of the fire, you could feel your skin start to crawl from the heat.

Eventually, the gas company shut it off.

There was a helluva lot of people in white shirts and ties hanging around that site before we were done. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

I think I'd consider calling the Water Dept. too. When it comes time to make the connection, they might not be able to find the valve again or it may be corroded shut and unusable. The only way to hook up then would be to re-tap the main and dig up the road.

How did you manage to get the cord?

CJ7 . Being used to hard wired block heaters , I ASSUMED that the kubota block heater was the same .
The Kubota heater cord plugs into the Block heater .
So, while hogging I hear this unusual noise , I Stop to inspect and find bits of electical cord and connectors balled up up under the BH . It looked vaguely familiar , so I checked for my block heater cord . As they say ...... The rest is history (and expensive ! ) /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif But the plus side is that I found a piece of 3' long by 3/4" wide by 1/4 " think piece of steel I would have run over . So I guess it could have been worse ! John
