You are the only one who thinks that.
When you're wrong, you are wrong, plain and simple! What part of that don't you understand?:confused3:

Sorry you are typing in circles, I can't follow what advice I offered that you think is wrong, and I doubt anyone else can either.

And I"m probably NOT the only one who thinks this forum would be better like a discussion.

SODO - Can you P L E A S E either let your animosity towards "The Arcs" go or seek professional help??? I used to like most of what you wrote but this crap is getting really tiring. You are acting like a bratty 12 year old that wants to make sure that everyone knows how smart he is. Please just let it go.

It's a TV show called "Mr Shield's neighborhood." Talking circles over the fence.

You're probably right - better if I do not respond whatsoever to the Arcs.

So back to the kid in Australia; I think a entry level inverter-scratch start TIG such as Everlast-140 or a mid grade gas capable MIG such as a Hobart-140 would both do what you want for less than $500 total. The biggest cautionary thing I would bring up is don't just hop on Amazon or Ebay; make darn sure you order something that works with y'alls power grid down there. In either case you might want half a grade bigger (180-200 amp type machine) for maybe 25% higher price tag. Make sure you save enough for rods/gas/wire ect. If you go with stick-tig you might play with different sizes/types of electrodes; maybe some 1/16" 7014 for that thing stuff.

What I would like to know is what am gaining by getting a cheap gasless mig over a good quality inverter? I am planning on going and trying some Everlasts. And another thing is I DID NOT start this thread for two blokes who don't agree to argue with each other (if it continues I will complain).

An inverter based arc welder/stick will have DC based arc as an option, and some nice features BUT it's just a slightly better version of what you are already doing. It's still not the idea tool for really thin tube. The scratch start TIG that comes with it if good for that thing stuff; but expect some learning curve and you need gas regulator and tank.

MIG is basically tailor made for that thing stuff; it's fast; fairly cheap; and good within certain limits (see the on going feud). It will do what your asking for, and should be easier to learn then TIG.

How many amps would you say would be a minimum? For $319 I can get an professional 140A inverter welder with 5 years warranty and a 35% duty cycle, or for $369 I can get a DIY 135A MIG with 1 year warranty and a 10% duty cycle.

A 140 amp MIG is generally rated to handle 5/16" (8mm) but for more than occasional use, 1/4" (6.5mm) is probably a better number.

I wish all three of them would hit the ignore button. Their antics are tiresome.
