Seriously, if I drive about 15 mph on pavement with my R4's they start making for a choppy ride, I wouldn't want to go any faster.

Seriously though, I too get stuck behind tractors and sometimes it's not fun but fhe way some of these automobile drivers behave when the are behind a tractor is insane. They freak out because of a 30 second delay.

yea i have noticed on my ford 8000 that the ag tires make a bad vibration that rattles the floor boards in the cab when you drive about 10mph on the road, at less than that its fine, and faster than that its fine but right at that speed it realy shakes, something about the frequency of the lugs hitting the road i guess, cause once ya get above that speed it smooths out. i suppose the vibration is probably somehow related to the diameter of the tire so it probably would be a different speed on your tractor since i doubt your tires are 6ft tall like mine are

I noticed some odd vibrations too, but they didn't seem to be in rhythm with the lugs. Maybe the fluid in the tires combined with the roughness of the road?

yea the fluid may have something to do with it, but it happens on all types of road surfaces so i think its something to do with the lugs, smooth pavement, bumpy dirt roads etc

That's most likely it. We've had several cars that do odd things at certain speeds. One had a sunroof. If you opened it and drove at 42MPH it sounded exactly like a helicopter. If you cracked a window it stopped. But the kids liked it, so we'd do it for a while. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

I had a friend(since passed away) that had a rather large Oliver. He said if he traveled on the road over 12MPH he would notice the wear on his tires was greater. He always kept it at 10MPH. He had rice and cane tires, so I could see how that might be a problem.

I'd trust my 8 yo driving my tractors more than most people. She knows how to run about every piece of machinery that we have. Most farm kids would put most grown people to shame driving. It's not the kids driving the tractors that I'm worried about it's the people following them!!

My question or my intent was,if you had to have a license to drive a tractor on the road. I am not questioning any childs ability to handle a tractor versus some of the licensed nuts on the roadways.I was just wondering what the law was pertaining to an unlicensed driver on the roadway.
I will call the state police and ask them(at least I will know the answer for my state)
I started on a tractor when I was 6,I was driving a car on the highway when I was 14,my father riding shotgun.I was just wondering about the law.
