An off the wall thought about a custom cutter...

Sorry about the ambiguous title...I'm curious if anyone has ever put a large 18"-20" circular saw blade on a regular push mower ??

I know how a blade head reacts on trimmer...

I'm wanting to cut a big patch of bamboo as close to the ground as possible...a chainsaw works great but it's as hard on the saw as it is on the operator working so close to the ground...

I figured I could modify a mower deck so the front of the blade was leading by several inches and set the wheels as low as possible...
Thoughts ??

That was the same gearbox I destroyed, just had a round deck mounted to it.

Theoretically it should work... bamboo is a grass (thick, I know) and you're thinking of something like a robust bladed brush cutter.

I had one of those circular saw blades come off a weed eater one time. Luckily it didn't come my way. Never did it again.

I use a brushcutter/trimmer with a 10" saw blade to take out my large bamboo stand.
Then knocked back with weed killer for a bit, then finished with toothbar, lifting out the last live roots.
Stuff should be outlawed in places where it doesnt grow naturally.
Nothing like a stand of bamboo by the road that falls into the road when it snows. Wakes you right up when you come around a turn and see a wall of frozen bamboo.
