What Would It Take?

Hate to say it, but more advertising.
I've been looking for a replacement machine since mine was stolen 11/13, and brought one home last week.
If I had known about the Branson 3510 on your lot a month or so ago, I'd have been willing to try and dicker a bit on the price and take it + a mower off your hands in time for the holidaze. As it is, I ended up financing significantly more for a new demo model closer to home.

Wayne,
Google is king. I did a search for "Yanmar" and you did not show up on the first 10 pages. I got tired of looking. If you are not visible from the State Highway then you better be visible on the "Information Higway".

You need to tailor your website for web search traffic to get the word out about your great service, support and shipping options.

I viewed the meta data and meta tags for your individual pages and it really is holding you back. Do you do regular site map submissions to google so they regularly crawl your site? Get more "key" words in on your pages so Google will pick more of your pages up. Install Google Analytics into your site and then you can see where your traffic is comming from and perhaps tailor a "Special" suited for a particular area.

These are all changes that cost nothing but can yield fantastic returns in terms of advertising dollars. SEO firms tell you they need thousands of dollars a month to do these things, but don't fall for that crap. It ain't rocket science.

My wife has a retail internet site and she regularly does these things herself. She has gone from a total yearly sales in 2007 of less than$900.00 to an average of $5000 a month, and is growing each and every month to the point she needs to start hiring employees. Now, she can not compete with the large established firms in terms of advertising and discounts, but by catering to Google, she is usually on page one for any given search and that is driving her success. Neither of us has any training in web sites but most of this stuff is pretty easy to figure out when you get right down to it.

just a thought,
Bruce

sorry - I meant what Bruce said, so much better than I did.
the internet is my primary research tool, and if you're not showing up there, I can't find you - especially 500 miles away. (which for a Kansan is a day-trip for a good deal!)

I know this is an older post but wanted to add my .02 cents worth. I am looking for a tractor I will need in the Spring but really have no use for now to develop a lot I bought in the mountains which will soon be buried in Montana snow. If I could find a good buy now I might buy except that the waranty will be expired before I ever use the tractor in the Spring. I have the cash to buy a tractor now but want a warranty that wil be in place when I get around to using the machine in April or May. So, if sellers of used tractors could extend the warranty there would be no reason for me not to buy now if I found the tractor I wanted. Hope this helps you sellers facing a slow fall/winter sales season or at least give you something to think about.

Since there isn't a warranty on used tractors it wouldn't matter when you purchased.

Not quite LB. Lots of reputable dealers include a warranty. Some are 30-60-90 days. So it does mean ALOT to him when he buys.

That was my point-the initial thread was directed at those dealers who provide various warranties. My inclination, if I decide to buy a Yanmar, is to buy one from someone who has enough confidence in what they are selling to provide a warranty.
