Ditto on the Hydraulic Power beyond operation.

I too was thinking about a log splitter, either borrowing or renting one. But then I came to realize that it won't work on my tractor.

I've also thought about building one. First thought was to put a hydraulic pump on the PTO, but then I thought of a simpler setup. Just connect to the splitter hydraulics to the loader lift ports and use the loader valve to operate it. You'd also probably want to put in a bypass hose on two of the ports that would not be needed. May not be necessary, but wouldn't hurt. No resevoir tank needed for this setup, just don't know if the pump would supply the proper volume to operate an adequately sized cylinder for splitting.

Any thoughts on this should probably be started in a new thread.

Oh yea, ditto on the folding ROPS. I will probably put one on anyway (in the spring), now that they are available.

"A Lawn Tractor On Serious Steroids" That could be Deere's marketing slogan for the 2220. I like it!!!

OK, OK, I was wrong about the engine/trans difference.....I promise to do better research the next time. That's one thing I like about TBN though is that we all share info and sometimes correct each other yet we continue to get along and that's good.

About the one-piece frame/backhoe. Let's blame Kubota for that one - they had to go add it to the BX - so why can't we have it too? I really have no need for the backhoe myself but I can see the value for those who do.

NAAA, I wouldnt say you were wrong. It really is just a matter of perspective /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif I think the only difference between theese is probably the cylinder heads. The 4115 gets direct fuel injection. When I priced theese the 4115 was 3k more than the 2210. JD did put a beefy motor in the 2210. I think its more marketing than anything else. HP is usually what the first time buyer looks at. I know I did /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif lol. Dave

<font color="blue"> The 2210 motor and trans is the same as the 4010, 4110 and 4115. The engine specs between theese models is hair splitting. Ditto on the trans. </font>

See, now I'm going to get caught up in discussing stuff that is way out of my league. Oh, well. As Fred says, that's what makes the world go 'round /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I have to agree that the HP thing can be deceiving if us "laymen" don't at least try to qualify the numbers with some of the technical differences. Gosh, sakes, I think a guy could buy a single cylinder, 390 pound, 39 HP lawn tractor with 9" rear wheels and a 27" two-blade deck these days. Add a 5-cubic foot cart full of marshmallow mulch to the tail, and it wouldn't pull it over the threshold in my shed.

I have to say that I don't understand all the details, but I do know the numbers get significantly "better" as you work your way up to the 4115. Even from my underinformed perspective, I can see that the displacement, torque, and the RPMs at which the rated HP is acheived changes significantly between the 4010 and the 4115.

The 2210 appears to have the exact samee engine displacement as the 4110, but the publications state that the 2210 has a greater gross HP. The difference is that the 4110 makes its HP at 2,650 RPMs and the 2210 makes its advertisied HP at 3,000 RPMs. This is a wild guess, but I'd bet a dollar to a stale bagel that the 2210 I own makes 20 HP (give or take a few tenths) at around 2,650 just like the 4110.

The 4115 makes its 24 gross HP at the same RPM but with 73.22 cu. inches of displacement. Both the 4110 and 2210 run with a smidge over 61 cu. inches, and the 4010 runs with 47.8 cu inches. I don't have the engine torque spec handy for the 2210, but the 4X1X series lists as follows:

4010 = 32.2 ft./pounds
4110 = 39.7 ft./pounds
4115 = 47.5 ft./pounds

Even us dilettentes can see why the 4115 will throw a hog blade through heavy brush with less effort and less lugging than the 4010. For lighter tasks, a guy might not even be able to tell the difference.

I'd bet you a stale bagle but I think I'll keep my dollar /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif The 4115 jumps out so much from the others I think due to the direct fuel injection. All this stuff gets pretty confuseing for the new shopper. I know when JD came out with the 2210 I saw the price tag and ran to the dealer. All I saw was the HP and the price tag. I dont mow, At all, so that was a misstake for me. I would have been better off with any of the 4000 series. Live and learn /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif
