I was given a zero turn that needed some work. It's low hours. I did the needed repairs to get it back in service. Now it's just things like the hour meter doesn't work and the fuel float is sunk so the gauge doesn't work. But the question I have is the seat has pulled away from the metal seat pan/back. I see many mowers do the very same thing. I want to see what your suggestions to glue the outer rim of the vinyl seat back down to the metal back would be? It came from the factory with some kind of glue in there. I can't remember if it felt like silicone at this point without going back out there.

Would you use a liquid nails, silicone adhesive, a special tractor seat glue that i dont know exists, or some sort of other glue? Let me hear your thoughts on this?

I like goop for almost every thing. I don't know if it would work on the vinyl. Does well with the vibration. I use it on everything.

Liquid Nails - one 14oz tube in your calk gun.

Find a tube of this......MasterSeal NP 1 elastomeric polyurethane sealant

Sticks to everything and doesn’t harden so it won’t crack. We use it to glue aluminum caps on in the field. Hot, cold, rain or snow it always works. Everything else we have tried failed

Just about anything 3M makes is good.. The Liquid Nails is GREAT but don't expect to ever take it off again.. lol
I spray can of 3M adhesive

Just picked up a roll of yellow duct tape to temp repair the seat on my JD. Ace Hardware sells it.

I used liquid nails, because I had it. Looks a bit white around the edges but still holding two years.

I had the same thought about liquid nails and never removing it. But if I had to it would be to get a new seat I guess and it would just be similar to a foamed tire. Cut the seat off and grind the mess out of the metal pan before I replaced it.

I may look into the 3m weather strip adhesive and also the masterseal. That sounds like just what I need to glue back down the pipe cap/top plate on my chimney (at the farm) that came loose with silicone.

I use Mean Green spray adhesive to glue my seat back to the pan. You spray both sides, wait till it is tacky then stick both together for instant bond.
I get it from my local HVAC supply house. I think they must use it to attach the foam boards inside AC ducts. I have also used it to secure weather stripping.

That sounds cool but looking g at their site or some supply house site it's only availible in 12lb, 40lb, and 375lb cylinders. All of which would be quite a bit larger than I would want to buy for this project or to even keep on hand for others.

I did find the masterseal on I think walmart.com for like $8. I have a few other things I am gonna order so I am throwing a tube of that in with the order to try.

My adhesive of choice is Silicone II. But I must say that I was impressed with Lepage PL construction adhesive. I dropped a blob on concrete and couldn't kick it off without a fight. However, unlike silicone with give, when it breaks free, it's free.

It comes in a spray can (about 16 oz.) for $12?? (forget the price but a little pricey) You may have been looking at the wrong item.

I think it was the same stuff. But I think they just sell to businesses doing installs. It was mean greend contact adhesive. Applied just like you say.

It sounds handy. I'd buy a can at $12 ish dollars if I could find it.

That is the same company (Mean Green by Quest Vapco). Mine comes in an 18 oz. spray can. You might try your local HVAC supply company. I know that if I can get it in Hot Springs, Arkansas, it should be available just about anywhere. I dont know why their website only list huge containers.
The can gives address of distributor as:
QuestVapco Corporation
P.O. Box 624
Brenham, Tx. 77834
