What would you want to be remembered for?

For me, its pretty simple:

- He never made his wife cry

- He raised 2 kids right.

Your opinion reminds me of a former friend who was also my boss for a long time, we were discussing obituaries and I told him it bothered me when I saw the name of someone I knew in the Deaths and Funerals section of the local news.

He said: "As long as I don't see my name there, it doesn't bother me at all...." :laughing:

I once found my name in one and took it to my Boss and asked for the day off to go to my Funeral.

should it be more? you spent your life doing good things and did it well ... all those important to you will remember you for it ... an Obit is just a few words ... the most important are : good husband / friend / father / ( key word being GOOD ).... the rest doesn't amount to a hill of beans after you are gone.

that's all we can ask of someone ... be and do good.... and it seems you did just that.

Ditto the thumbs up. Fond memories by the family is what it is about.

I'd like to be remembered for my good looks but at 51 years old I've figured out that ain't going to happen. I would also like to be known for being a good husband and a dad, but I have made my wife cry a couple of times. On a professional level I am a land surveyor. I often look at surveys that were done over a 100 years ago and admire the quality work they did. I hope a 100 years from now surveyors will look at my work and say I did a good job.

what you want to be remembered for may not be the same as how others want to remember you as. I am willing to bet that if we all can float as free spirits to watch our own funerals, we may get a chuckle or two and be touched to the heart. remember karma is always looking out for you.

Back about 1977 or so, a group of my buddies and I (and I was about 26 years old then) were discussing what we wanted displayed on our tombstones when we were dead and buried. I told them that I wanted mine to read: "He Had Good Credit" and although we laughed about it at the time, the older I get, the more I realize how appropriate that slogan would be today.

I would hope that I have treated people right, both family and strangers,

and treated them with dignity and respect,

I hope no one feels I have cheated them, or took advantage of them,

and hope I have given proper guidance and help in times of need,
