If I drink a beer it's usually a Stella Artios or Heineken. For a strong blue cheese and crackers it's Scotch and lemonade (lite). Did you hear that noise ??That was 40 thousand Scotsmen spinning in their graves.
For a special meal I'll have a Cabenet/Sauvignon or a Cab/Sav/Merlot, or just Merlot. And if it's a really really special meal I'll round it off with a wee dram of Lochan Ora. Nectar of the Gods.
However, living alone and diabetic, a dozen beer lasts a long time, the wine is well matured and a bottle of Lochan Ora lasts about ten years.

It is actually my FAVORITE whiskey...
I've never seen it in a big bottle though... 750ml is the only kind I've seen...

Just got back from the Virgin Islands; was warned that the drinks there are very strong...because the mixer costs more than the liquor. We noted that the local Rum was $9.00 per Liter and Milk was $6.00 per gallon.

Killians Irish Red with a chunk of aged chedder cheese and fresh crusty bread and I'm good for the evening. Don't make the mistake and get the Killians Irish Green unless you really like chocolet. To me beer should not taste like a Hershey bar.

I enjoy many different microbrews. My favorite.....Fort George's Vortex IPA. Also....enjoy a cold Coors light on a hot day. A little merlot or cab is also a joy with a good meal. If I want a little something more.....Black Velvet Special Reserve on the rocks is very good. My daughter is a home brewer.....for my last birthday she made me a double IPA and called it JerryAtrics......funny girl!:laughing:
