Farmtrac 360 DTC with FEL & John Deere 5093E with FEL ,Kubota SVL 75-2
My dad is wanting to buy a Kubota 9540 with 4x4, fel, cab with air and radio, shuttle shift, basically about everything on it. I don't know anything about Kubota as I have a Farmtrac and he has always had John Deere's, so I was wondering about what was the average or fair price for one of these models, also for anybody who owns one, have you had good luck with it? Any and all info is appreciated.

We have an M8540 which is the same tractor as the M9540, but you can get a few more things on the M9540 which really brings the price up from a "basic model", so you need to go to the Kubota site and build one then figure 10% or maybe a little more to get a ball park figure.

We really like our M8540 HDC.

Thank's Triple R, I have read that quite a few people think these models are fairly light for ag tractors in their horsepower size and recommend getting the cast iron rims or either wheel weights, seeing as how I have little knowledge of the Kubota brand is there anything else that you would recommend as far as options go? This will probably be the last tractor he will buy and I want to make sure he gets what he needs to make it pleasurable for him. Thank's again.Charlie.

We had to buy what was on the lot as our Case CX80 went toes up and we couldn't wait six weeks for one. We got the 12F/12R, FEL, two rear remotes, grill guard and the same size tires as the M9540 and big bucket. We had the tires filled.

We wanted an air suspension seat, rear window wiper, creep speed, cast wheel centers, quick coupler for the FEL. Some "nice to have features are the self leveling function for the FEL, but we don't need it; had one and didn't use it, shockless ride accumulator for FEL, but we didn't really need that either. Depending on his uses, a third function valve will be useful for a grapple, but we just use pallet forks.

Our dealer said he would add the third function for the same price later if we need it, but after a year and a half don't see it happening.

E/S, rjkobbeman, Bake321, piller, Bulldogger, Big Bubba, red4now and some others also have 8540/9540 and gave me some real good information when buying mine.

Get the cast iron rear wheels and go ahead and have the tires filled also. That's how our M9540 is setup and it provides enough weight for most any situation. If you need more weight you can always add wheel weights after that. I'd also recommend three rear remote valves with two of them being float (in case you want to run a batwing bush hog.) A lot of people like the third function valve on the loader as well, but we've never had a need for it.

What type of tasks are you looking to use the tractor for? What implements do you already have? That would help in determining what features you'll need.

We will mostly be using the tractor for putting in winter rye for cows, a little mowing and using the loader for cleaning up downed trees etc, he may on occasion plant a little corn or soybeans, the loader will also be used for round rolls of hay so he is planning on a hay fork. We have a 12' leveling harrow a turn plow with 4-16's, 2-row rolling cultivator, 2-row 71 john deere planters, 7' bush hog mower, spreaders etc etc. We both know he could do with less horsepower but that is not what he wants, he wants the 9540 and as I stated it will probably be the last tractor he gets so we want to try and get him what he wants.:D

We looked at both the M8540 and M9540 and knew 85 HP was plenty as it was replacing an 80 HP with the majority of our work pulling a 10' Woods DS1260. All we would have gained with the 9540 was a little less fuel efficiency according to the salesman. That being said, if that's what he wants then that's what it should be.

In Dec 2010, I bought a new M9540 sync shuttle shift, cab with FEL, 84" HD bucket, 2 rear remotes, 3rd function valve, grill guard ag tires. Discount was 17% off the Kubota website price. Plus got 1500 rebate for paying cash.
There were no dealer fees or taxes. This included delivery of about 60 miles, filling the rear tires, and welding hooks on the bucket.

Thank's for all your input and experience fella's, I think we can go to the dealer a little more educated with what we want as options now, I appreciate your time. Charlie.

Let us know how it turns out, I just spent a few days bush hogging with ours and continue to be impressed with it; very stable on slopes and pond levies.
