Joined the Army when I was 17. 14yrs-8 months later I'm still here. Hoping I make E-8 on the board this month. Currently deployed to Kandahar, Afghanistan. Retirement we be coming soon and I can't wait! When I'm not playing Army, I travel home and work on the family ranch/farm. Mostly fixing equipment my grandfather has broken haha.

Started as a diamond driller in a mine in 1963 12 hrs. a day 7 days a wk. for 6 mons. then surface drilling for a while then a pipe line swamping then oil rigs then logging lots of small jobs in between until 1969 apprenticed as a carpenter for a couple yrs. then went on my own and learned every aspect of construction over a 40 yr. period . In 2005 took some university coarses to become a waste water management practitioner because my body wasn't handling heavy lifting required in building. Have a band mill so keep real busy between it and the hoe. I also get hired often for consulting construction jobs and water systems they pay better than I ever got as a carpenter.

After 20 years of managing a retail fitness store for several bosses. In late October I bought a couple bike shops. I am finally by own boss...

Cycle Werks bike and Fitness shop. :)

My "other" job has been becoming a "gentleman farmer" may have to be scaled back due to how much work has to be done in the spring for bike shops. But I still love my tractor and my garden.

Did 26 years in the Army, ran a CIED training program for them for the next 9 years. Was based in Germany but traveled throughout Europe. As of 31 Jan I became semi retired after our contract ended. Now I am fixing up the property we moved to. Once I get things right here I will go to school and get prepped for my next career. Just not quite sure what it will be. I really enjoy working with my hands and not doing the same thing day in/day out. My neighbor is a Master Plumber and is willing to school me if that is what I want to do. Just have to see what shakes out.

Retired from 34 years of mining. 15 years operating mining equipment then 19 years of managing pit operations. I got bored and started a small business that mows right of ways in the summer. In the winters I remodel our home.

I am middle school principal and athletic director in a small rural district on upstate NY. Started college studying finance and economics, stopped going after 3 years and was approached about coaching a basketball team. I did it, enjoyed it and decided to get into teaching.

I worked in a juvenile detention facility and coached football and basketball while I worked my way through the rest of my bachelors degree. Got hired as a history teacher and continued coaching until I was talked into getting my administrative credentials by a superintendent of schools.

I was hired as principal in 2009, and have done 2 tours as athletic director- one while I was still teaching and I resumed it a few years ago due to budget problems.

I have worked part time on and off for 30 years for my late father and my brother in the family excavation business as a laborer and an errand boy- not much lately due to spending 50-60 hours weekly at school.

Started in teens putting handles on paint cans--paid well but shift work
All while performing in a professional water ski show sponsored by a brewery, we didd 55 shows that summer.
During high school learned an aviation trade during summer.
Went into sales ranging from pharmaceuticals, hydraulics, art supplies and fork lifts with art supplies being the longest stint.
During the sales portion of my career I purchased an aircraft which took me to trading in aircraft parts and supplies as a part time thing.
Part time aviation led to full time ending up with building a major avionics facility and incorporating a Cessna franchise with a hanger facility at Dorval Intl. Known as a FBO.
Sold the aviation facility and built a chalet on land next door to my cottage which led to 20 years of renovations and construction of 5 chalets for friends or neighbors.
Now down to my one chalet/retirement home playing with my tractor and other toys.
I enjoy my workshop that has just about all the tools a guy would want in both mechanical and woodworking, space is the main problem.
I did want to retire with my own floatplane at my dock but with prices and gas being what it is I content myself with tha other toys, besides there iss not enough time in a day.
Along the way I owned a bulldozer 1/2 dz tractors and a doz or so aircraft from T craft, Pipers up to Cessna 182s.
Yes, I'm lucky, have enjoyed life and have a wonderful family as well.
Best is I enjoy good health and plan to live forever, so far so good.*
