Whats happening with Steel prices

You did get taken... their loss in the long run. The scrap yard I buy from charges $.40/lb, and I think that is a little high, but it is convenient, and they have everything separated by type (angle, channel, flat, rod, pipe, etc.)and size. Makes it easy to find what you want.

Our local place has a minimum amount... Think its $5.00. Could be the place you went has a $10.00 minimum?

I remember the first time I went over to our local steel scrapyard and only found one small piece for one of my projects. The guy told me "You picked out the most expensive piece we have!". He then went on to explain that it would be $5.00 because of the minimum. He told me to just go ahead and take it home because it wasnt worth ringing up, but make sure to come back when I needed a larger amount . I've been there many times since then.
