I have a small project I am working on, and cannot figure out what it's called, this item I am looking for.

screw.jpg

I hope this shows up. It is basically a screw with a head that is flat on 2 sides, and has a threaded hole through the center, in addition to the shank being threaded. I have seen them with machine and wood threads on the shank. I know there is a bolt for rifles, that is the sling quick detach bolt, but don't know if that's the only source for them.

Oh, I should add, that I want the threaded hole in the center of the head to be for an 8-32 thread, or just slightly larger, if I cannot get that size. Smooth would work as well.

Wow, this is the proverbial needle in the haystack...besides a sling point attachment from gun manufacturer, your best bet might be to have a hobbyist make these for you. Around here we have several machinists who have pretty well equipped home shops, this would be easy to make with the right tools.

Good luck with your search!

Yea I might just have to go with the sling adapter. That must be the only one I've seen. Drawing a blank for some reason.

Tractor supply has something like that , looks like it was about a 1/2 inch, also there are the ones with wood screw threads that I believe they are used to hang suspended ceilings with.

HD and Lowes might have them also in that strange/rare parts bin they have in the screw/nail section.

Try Brownells. Anybody with a lathe could make that easily.

Might be able to make something work with one of these McMaster-Carr

But the smallest "eye" hole I see is 3/16 (.1875) and you need a .136 hole for 8-32 thread though.

One of the "blanks" might work if you have a tap and die.

How big does the shank need to be? Machine or wood threads?

What are you using it for and that may help us??

.

Look at these. The hole isn't threaded though:

McMaster-Carr

.

I think those are even better than the ones I listed. The 1/4" and smaller ones list a 0.100" hole. That would work for the 8-32 threads he wants after he opens them up a bit. As long as 1/4" for the main part is big enough. And those are cheaper too:thumbsup:

Check out you local radio control hobby shop. I have seen bags of those on the wall, although I am not sure if they are big enough...

The hole just needs to be large enough to either thread for 8-32 or just slip through. Either way will work. HOWEVER, looking at those prices, I'll just make them.

What they are for, is actually to make a jig, to allow me to more easily align the cam on my compound bow. Kinda like a tractor, it has a cam:D. I figured if anybody would know of a reasonable one, but I will turn them down on my lathe. They will be made to position in holes that are built into the cam for the purpose of alignment. Right now it's an "eyeball" thing and I want something more precise.

Here's a pic of the cam.

The red lines are, top is the bow string. Bottom red line is the correct alignment of the holes, to be parallel to the string. My jig will be on a steel rod, that will have the two eye bolts I asked about, turned so they fit into the outer holes in the cam. The end of the rod has a bubble level epoxied to it, and the bow will be mounted to a stand, so as to level the bow string with a string level hanging on it.

I will be able bolt the jig to the cam and allow that to be hands free. that way, when both bubble show level, it's timed. This is an older Mathews Q2 XL, if that matters.

Dont know if it is just me (on work computer) but I dont see any pics.

And you mention "for the price I'll just make them", what about those that danno posted. They were only a couple bucks each. I thought that was pretty cheap.

Thanks guys. Danno the std one will work, and like LD1 said, I can easily fix the hole opening. I tried a thumb screw yesterday, that was an 8-32 screw, but it was too weak. When I tried to turn the end down to fit in the hole, it just bent under the pressure. If I cannot easily enough make one, I will check as Woodlandfarms suggested, and then maybe order some. I checked on the sling swivel mounts at local gun shops and his comment was, "those are rare". I thought, yea in this town!

LD1 I fixed the picture, not sure what happened before.
