must be a location thing. i see very few utility sized tractors around this area. most guys are big time farmers with bigger AG tractors, or have little CUTs with 4x4 and a loader. i agree that it will last a lifetime. around here you can go to almost any farm auction and find several 55ish HP diesel tractors 2wd for $3000-4000 grant at that price they are not as clean or with as low hours, but that was where my thinking went

John Deere 30, 40, 50 or 55 series are like gold backed security. They don't change much - this is not a Massey Ferguson 165 or of that nature. That is a $4000 tractor.

The advice on this string is good - what is a 5D tractor worth? Go from there and the 2350 is a better tractor in my opinion. This is a rugged industrial tractor for long hours of heavy work with decent weight in the chassis. Look at the adjustable rims on the back - don't see this on the typical cheap tractors today.

Everything works nice on these tractors - they steer, brake, and are gutsy tractors that outperform what they are rated for and are not thirsty either.

Like one poster said - likely to the right person it is worth more than $10k, could be $15k or more with those hours.

Usually clutch pedals don't lie, one old guy told me. Look at the wear on the casting and the truth will be revealed.

In fact a MF 265 would make more as hyd's would be better as a yard tractor running hyd grain augers etc this would just be a cute little PTO tractor for finnishing mower etc

What is your logic? There is less pump flow according to TractorData website at 10 gpm open centre on a 265 MF vs 13 gpm closed centre on the 2350 JD. Only 4 hp PTO tested less hp.

I would say four speeds in reverse is better than the useless two speeds of snail in reverse low and race in reverse high. The rear ends were notoriously weak too from what I remember as a kid.

2350 was heavier as a tractor at a minimum base weight by 700 lbs..

So much for your thinking - I don't get it.

I looked at a nice 2350 about two years ago for $12,000 but it had 9,000 hours. I ended up buying a 2155. If this has only 800 hours that is really low. The $7,000.00 price tag is cheap for that around here.

I would have loved to have come across this tractor before I bought my 2155 for this price. I can tell you I paid over $9,000.00 for my 2155 with 3,000 hours. Mine is a little newer but it is one size smaller and needs new rear tires. Other than that mine is a nice looking and well taken care of tractor.
