Just trying to get an idea what a dealer should offer me as a trade in on my tractor. I have a Kubota grand l3540 hstc-3 that I purchased new in January, 2014. It has the la724 72" ssqa loader, front 3rd function set up, 3 rear remotes (2 with float), upgraded front and rear led lights, rear wiper, alpine c/d player, rim guard filled r4 tires. It has 68 hours and is in mint condition. Also would like to know what I should be able to get for it if I sold it on Craigslist. I'm looking for ballpark figures here and understand different area of the country might be different...... I'm in the northeast. Any help would be appreciated.

I would say 20-25% less than you paid for it.

Your going to take a good hit on trying to sell alike new tractor.
Can you offer 0 % financing, like the dealers ?
Not many buyers around with that much cash.

Why are you trading a new tractor? I too think you will take it in the wallet.

An astute shopper can usually beat the MSRP by 8-10% and depreciation of new vs used and no 0% financing will take off another 10% so 18 to 20% off the build your own price and hope/pray to find one of those guys that believe used and cash is king.

[/You know the Kubota dealer can buy a new one for 10-15% less than MSRP and probably will only buy it to resale and not use for personal use so the dealer will want to reduce MSRP by another 10 to 15% for profit margin which the 0% is the killer.B]
On a trade with a dealer where he can make the 10 to 15% profit on the machine they are selling you may make a dealer settle for a bit less potential profit on selling your used tractor. If the dealer has a need for nice used tractors in the size you have then a better deal could possibly happen. I usually trade with Barlows because he sells lots of used tractors and doesn't have as high of a profit margin plus I need the state tax trade in credit not being a farmer. Maybe contact Barlows if your wanting to buy another new or used tractor.:2cents:

I would say you can do better than that if you sell in a private sale. A clean almost new tier 3 machine can be a valuable commodity these days. In April I sold a 2 year old L3200 with 100 hrs for almost 90% of what I paid for it to the first person that looked at it.

There is no guarantee's. He may be able to do better than 20%, but there is a chance he might not even do that good.

If I were in the market, and his was only a 10% discount, I'd rather buy new, with a new warranty, and dealer support to go along. I think new is worth more than 10%, but thats just my :2cents:

The only reason I'm selling the tractor is because when I bought it we were gonna sell the house and buy something with more land. I jumped on this tractor becsuse the price was good because they wanted to move it out for the new L3560 model.
I LOVE this tractor for the loader work I did and snow removal but I need something I can use for mowing and this one is just to big and heavy for that.

We decided to not sell the house and stay where we're at.

I just got s quote back from the Kubota dealer and he will give me $2, 645 less than what I originally paid for it before taxes. I don't that's bad at all. They only thing is I'm leaning towards a Kioti.
