Grapple What's needed for a grapple?

As stated above the reason it can be hard for some tractors to do all three functions at once is not the valve, it is the gpm or the flow the tractor has that can limit the third function. I had the factory third function installed on my tractor and in reality it is a diverter valve with the button on the joystick. I wanted a true third function but this is one of the issues I read about and I am no professional operator. I am very happy with my setup and after some looking into I don't even know if I have the gpm to fully operate a true third function the way it is supposed to run. This is the factory third function valve and it works for me.

Manufacturers and aftermarket producers of these kits call them 3rd function. That's a term recognized by most consumers. It's not uncommon here on TBN to hear owners admit they aren't sure which they have.

Tractor gpm definitely comes into play. This should also be considered when deciding what to buy. If GPM is limited you are money ahead to use a diverter.

With that said. The largest GPM tractor in the world cannot perform 3 functions at once with a diverter valve. :)

I just wanted the manufacturer to install their third function kit for my grapple since my tractor was new. It wasn't till I researched here that I realized I had a diverter kit, but what has been stated earlier I'm pretty sure I would not be able to truly use a third function kit the way it is designed to be used anyway. Once I looked into it more it seemed the diverter was not a bad route for me.

Even with true 3rd function you will have problems with the gpm. The first fuction will most always be the lift on the FEL, the second the curl, the 3rd the 3rd function on the loader, then the rear remotes, then the 3pt lift. It takes a lot of gpm to get all the way. Very few small tractors can lift the FEL with a load and raise the 3pt at the same time. With most smaller tractors and what they are used for, it works fine. And I have true 3rd function and prefer it.

I bought a Grapple for my JD2032R last fall. Got it from Everything Attachments. They have the 3rd function kits also, which I got. The kit for mine is a divertor valve type. It works fine. I don't think the average person needs to operate all three functions at once. It doesn't seem to slow me down at all. Once you get a grapple, you'll wonder why you waited. I pick up all kinds of stuff with it. Tore up one of those sheet metal storage sheds and rolled it up into a ball in about 5 minutes. Good attachment.

I'm on my 2nd tractor with a grapple and 3rd function. Just get it when you order the tractor. You will really enjoy the abilities of the unit. It's not inexpensive but worth the cost IMHO. I'm a tightwad by nature. It's worth it.
