JoeinTx - you are mostly right. The excavator was brought in to right the tractor. It was not there when he rolled it. Otherwise, you came to the same conclusion I did about what happened. The operator (a close relative) is relatively inexperienced with tractors. I'm still not sure what he was trying to do even after talking with him after the fact.

This incident shows how important safe operation is. It took the better part of a day with 2 and sometimes 3 people working to get the tractor righted and towed up the hill. A few minutes to reposition the tractor would have avoided all that. Not to mention the time and money it's going to cost to take it into the shop to have the injectors pulled and the engine checked.

And it took an excavator and dump truck to get it out.

It could be a total loss, plus recovery cost, no insurance, whatever else, you and especially the operator are some very lucky people.

I would let it sit wheels down for at least 12 hours. That will get nearly all of the crankcase oil drained out past the rings. Still, use a wrench to rotate the engine over one complete rotation. Check fluids, inspect for damage and start it up. It will smoke like the Marlboro Man for about 5-10 minutes as the small amount of crank oil in the cylinder burns off. But it should be fine.

I would sprinkle baking soda everywhere acid may have leaked. Rinse and repeat until it shows no sign of bubbling. Probably pressure wash it, inspect it close and call er good.

These words ring a very sour note with me.

No offense to you(as I don't know the circumstances), but my job as a logging foreman was taken over by a "close relative" of the owner.

That guy helped to put the company out of business...............he could run anything.........upside down. Skiders, dozers, feller-bunchers. He rolled them all.

He could run a saw...........if he showed up for work.

If it looked like rain............he was the first to the pickup.

Lazy ******* cost me my job, and helped the company go bankrupt.

i agree.. if it will roll over with a wrench after setting overnight.. no need to pull injectors.

though I would check the air filter foer signs of oil.. if it got oil up that far I'd be tempted to pull em anyway..

alternately.. may be easier to simply pull glow plugs...
