I'm trying to learn more about my tractor and get somewhat of a baseline. I have a question for all you fine folks on here that has a BX23, BX24, or BX25. Do you notice any vibration on the driveshaft? My BX24 normally has very rough idling at low rpm's but generally smoothes itself out at higher rpms. If you watch the shaft, you can actually see it vibrating at an offset of approximately a quarter of an inch or so at low rpms and vibrates at a minimal at full throttle. Can anyone take a quick look at their tractors and see if you notice that too? Thanks...

The engine is mounted in rubber and shaft has a flex joint for that very reason.

I never noticed the BX24 idled all that bad. Folks used to say how loud, vibrating and clanky it was, especially when cold. I never even noticed a difference when cold or warmed up. I never looked at the shaft though.

I did notice though that the thing that made the most noise from vibration was the stand for the FEL.

Mine vibrates quite a bit at idle, but smooths right out when you add RPM's. I haven't looked at the shaft directly however. The hood vibrating is what I notice.

My BX23 don't vibrate.
BX1500s do some but not a problem if idled up a tad.

Hmm, What did you do? get under the BX while its running and have a "helper" rev up so you could compare ? Its the only way to look at the shaft! shudder!

I would hate to get under a running tractor.
My bx23 doesn't vibrate all that much when at idle but if I open the hood it is shaking all over the place until I bump the idle up a little. I would say the driveshaft has to be moving at least a 1/4 inch.

Radioman, I attempted to repair my HST fan by glueing another one on top that after slicing it in half. But because of my stupid self, it wasn't cut evenly and after gllueing it back, there's about 1/4 inch gap in between the openings. So now it's causing shaft to vibrate. I never took any notice of the vibration before the fan got torn apart or even without the fan blades on there, but because the repair wasn't even, I just happened to notice a good bit of vibration and was wondering what was normal to a BX24. But I just can't see that a half pound fan (if even that) would cause that much vibration. I'm headed towards removing the fan and trying the repair again, this time trying to make it more even. I will play with that and lose the $20 for 2 fans first rather than paying the $700 that I was quoted to replace that fan.

Have you tried just moving the engine forward off the mounts just like others have done? Others says is a 4 hour job, but seriously, how bad can it be ? Disclaimer here- I havent done it yet so I don't know how bad it can be. But I will say I am mechanically inclined and would attempt that instead.
