what's the best mechanic's creeper?

   / what's the best mechanic's creeper? #11
I have one of the six wheel elcheapo creepers that I couldn't keep the wheels tight, and the bearings kept falling out. I got "BONE" one year for a gift and used it for a few times, but one of the wheels kept binding on the body when it would swivel so I went back to using the elcheapo. One day I was in a surplus store and saw a set of scateboard wheels and had a light bulb moment. The scateboard wheels had two roller bearings each and were smaller diameter, had to use shims on the sides, I replaced the wheels on the "BONE" and now I have a low rider high speed "BONE" that moves as smooth as silk.

Of course you could always buy a lift for the garage and never ned the creeper again.

All you have to do is what I did. Sell a couple of your toys and buy the lift. After a certain age and in my part of the country you get tired of laying outside in the snow to work on something. It always seemed thats when a vehicle would need some work. I sold one of my m/cycles a few years ago and bought the lift. Sell a 4 wheeler, sled, cycle, or whatever. Lifts like mine can be installed for under 4K.

I got a Autolifters lift, 4800.00 with all the toys. Harbor Frieghts creeper is ok for 20 bucks, has the padding spark issue, also shoulders hit the side bars. 6 wheels are good. Dog Bone looks good. Just rambling.

I just got a bone for my garage and I can't believe I didn't buy this years ago! I've had the craftsman creeper from my mechanic jack set I got about 10 years ago. Unfortunately it didn't take me long to bend a wheel and it's been a pain every since. I've been using the bone now for about 6 weeks and it's almost like gliding around on air. Of course I'd rather have a lift, maybe that'll be next. haha
