what\'s the best wax or polish

This may sound like a silly question but since I am a bit new to this group I can ask. What do some of you recommend for waxing or polishing the plastic hood or fenders. What works best, regular paste type wax or the more liquid stuff? How about things like Armor All or other interior protestants? I have a JD4410 need to keep shining or I won’t be able to sleep... /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Re: what\'s the best wax or polish

I can't tell you which one is best but I can tell you that having one with UV protection is very important. Sun is the enemy of plastic hoods, fenders, etc so you want a wax that will block the ultra violet rays.

Re: what\'s the best wax or polish

Use a quality wax like Meguire's or Nu Finish. I would stay away from using something like Armour All on rubber or plastic. It will make it slick and once you start to use it you have to continue to use it to acheive a good look.

Hands down the best wax that I have ever used is Prestone synthic.

I get GREAT results with Frenzy. I found it on a boating site and have used it on my boat and car so far.

Tractors look better dirty....

It is also the best UV protection for the price! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Really don't know if there is a best wax as they all seem to do a pretty decent job. My experience with antique cars in my younger years put me in contact with a product called Liquid Glass. I still keep a can of it and really think it does a nice job. Liquid Glass information

Re: what\'s the best wax or polish

Many years ago, when Dad had a service station and auto parts store, the paste type Turtle Wax was generally considered the best by most people. I would guess, but don't know, that it's still good. However, it's been many years since I used any. The only thing I've used in recent memory is NuFinish; mostly because it was easier to use. And when you're waxing a 32' fifth-wheel or a 40' motorhome, that makes a BIG difference. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Re: what\'s the best wax or polish

PineRidge - Liquid Glass is a great product. I have used it in the past on an old '85 Chevy and it would really bring the old paint to life. IMO though, it is more for shine and not so much protection. It also carries a pretty heavy price tag... but you get what you pay for.

Bird - I've used Nu Finish off and on for years and I still think it is one of the best on the market. It is made up of quite a different formula than typical waxes and you can even apply it in the sun. Definately a good product that doesn't hurt the pocketbook too bad.

I have tried countless waxes and polishes over the years and I still think Nu Finish and Meguiars offer some of the best products and neither are very expensive.
