What make these two tractors diffient from each other? My local dealer cann't sell the L3000DT for some reason. He said people don't want this model for some reason. He has sold all his B7800's tractors. I might be buying L3000DT tractor from him if there is no problems with this model.
Terry, I don't think there's any problem with the L3000DT, but I can certainly understand why the B7800 is more popular. You can go to Kubota.com and look at the difference in specifications, but for a couple of differences: The B7800 is slightly smaller, but has a 4-cylinder engine and hydrostatic transmission, while the L3000DT has a 3 cylinder engine and a manual transmission. Of course that 3 cylinder engine is a little larger displacement and a little more horsepower, but a lot of people just prefer a 4 cylinder engine, and while there's nothing wrong with a manual transmission, I think the majority of us prefer the hydrostatic transmission.
When I was shopping tractors, the L3000DT was the Kubota I was looking at. It's very basic but tried, true and tested a great work horse of a tractor if you don't need all the "perks" of hydro and some of bells and whisles of the other tractors I woundn't shy away from this tractor.
Put your backside in the seat and take it for a spin around the dealer's lot, give the two stage clutch a whirl see what ya think.
I recently was also interested in the L3000. I bought the L4300 for the main reason Bird stated. I wanted a 4 cylinder tractor. I also liked the wide open platform of the L4300. It just seemed to fit better. For my needs, the L4300 is perfect, it's a no frills, tried and true, meat and potatos, (insert favorite working man's cliche here) tractor.
As others have said, get in the seat and see which better suits your needs. If you local dealer doesn't have one, call another dealer around you and drive theirs.
hello to all,
i have had my L3000DT since 2001, and i am very
pleased with it. i wanted a no frills tractor, and this
