What's the least tippy on slopes a Garden Tractor or a Sub Compact Tractor?
What's your opinion?
Now what's your experience?

Garden tractor...Lower CG...Plus if I lean to the highside...I probably move the CG back within the tires of the Garden tractor...That won't happen with a SubCompact...:D

I don't think you can ask that question and get a definitive answer.

It really depends on the center of gravity. Each machine is different. You can load the tires, add weights, put on smaller tires to lower it or put a fat person in the seat and that will effect tippiness. I have a little Simplicity lawn tractor that, with chains and my 220 pound butt in the seat holding it down, can climb up a wall. I had a late 70s IH2500b low boy. The seat was down between the tires in front of the rear differential. The tires were loaded, it weighed about 8000 pounds and sat lower to the ground than a conventional tractor. It could do some mighty steep slopes, too. Heck, Power Trac makes a tractor that is rated as a 45 degree slope mower. Many folks say it will slide off the slope before it tips over.

So, in my opinion, the question you ask cannot be answered. ;)

My Steiner loses traction before getting tippy. I have seen all four wheels with dual mounted tires (8 tires) on one that mows a steep, very steep overpass west of town. The operator said the seat had to replaced everytime they get a new operator on that slope. Something about where the seat got sucked up to, and lost forever.

I assume you are asking about serious slopes, not mild inclines.

Don't take this wrong, but in my opinion, if you have to ask the question, you are looking at the wrong equipment. If you want to operate on steep slopes, you should be looking at something designed to handle steep slopes. SCUTs and garden tractors aren't in that game.

What types of chores are you looking at, and how steep are the slopes?

1*So after doing all this to both which is the least tippy; Garden tractor or S-Cut?
2*Please lets keep this a comparison between garden tractors and s-cuts only.
3*Again keep it between s-cuts and GTs please.
4*Nope just general terrain fit/safe for sub compacts and or garden tractors. No specialty equipment situations.
5*see #4
6*see #4.

Sorry, but the Steiner is a lawn tractor, just not a piece of junk like a Sears or Cub Cadet. You pay for what you get, and if you want to do slopes, get a Steiner lawn tractor.

So how does your response tell me which is the the least tippy a garden tractor or a S-Cut?
You gave the right answer but it was for the wrong question.

My Steiner is much "less tippy" than my Ford 1100 ever thought about being. Both were 4wd units, and I didn't run duals on the Steiner, although that is an option. The Steiner will out perform the Ford on it's ability to traverse a hill sideways, with or without the mower being on the Ford. There just isn't a comparison between the two. As far as any others, can't help you, and don't plan on speculating about it, since you wanted real life experiences.

LB, the question cannot be answered without purchasing every model of every garden tractor or sub cut and testing. All you can get is each person's individual experience with the few machines they have operated. They have given you their experiences to the best of their knowledge and you have to take that for what it's worth; an honest attempt to answer a question that is hard to answer.

By the way, my reference to a Power Trac was only to illustrate that even 45 degrees slope mowers that won't tip easily will still slide off a slope if it is steep enough. You can set up a garden tractor or a sub cut with dual tires and wheights and make it very tip resistant, but some unfortunate soul will still drive it into a ditch mowing the lawn along the road and kill himself. :(
