What\'s the real weight of my tractor?

Recieved an email back from Kubota about the weight of a 7500hst yesterday. My questions were:
1 - The listed weight is 1367lbs., is that dry weight?
2 - Does it include the tires and is there a big difference between turfs and R4's.

Their response: (3 words)
It's dry weight.

Does anybody know answers to the other questions?
I'm rebuilding a trailer that has a 1800lb rating and I don't want to exceed it's weight limit.

Re: What\'s the real weight of my tractor?

An 1800lb trailer is not enough for a tractor that size.
I would highly recommend a differant trailer !

Re: What\'s the real weight of my tractor?

I don't believe an unloaded wheel/tire on a 1400# tractor could possibly weigh more than 100#. Mine weighs 1668# and I can easily load a tire on a pickup truck alone at a body weight of 170#, but that's a wirey 170. I believe you are safe either way.

I just realized you are comparing turfs to R4's. My R4's are 160 lbs heavier than the turfs. My set-up also includes differing wheel sizes which also accounts for some of the difference. I would suggest checking out the tire manufacturer's website for the actual numbers. The Titan site is pretty inforamtive. I'm not sure about Goodyear or the others.

Re: What\'s the real weight of my tractor?

cchoate,

I have to agree with wolbert. I wouldn't risk putting this tractor on a trailer rated for only 1800 lbs. I'm not sure, but that "dry weight" might not include the weight of the ROPS. It certainly doesn't include the gallons of hydro oil and diesel fuel. Also, are you going to tow a tractor without any implements? A loader will probably add 500-600 lbs., and just about any implement will be several hundred lbs.

I think you're risking quite a bit to put this tractor on such a light weight trailer.

Just my $0.02.

There's no way you won't be exceeding the limit of the trailer unless that 1800 lb. rating is load capacity and not the typical gross vehicle weight rating, which would include the weight of the trailer itself. I'm hard pressed to imagine a trailer with an 1800 lb. GVW rating weighing in at under 500 lbs.

The trailer rebuilt weighs around 450 - 500lbs with all the treated 2 x's I added. I would be hauling the tractor without any implements because of the trailers dimensions (5' x 8'). You guys are probably right though, it's too much load for the trailer.
The trailer is one of those steel frame put - togethers from Harbor Frieght. You just add your own deck.

Re: What\'s the real weight of my tractor?

It would be extremely dangerous to put a B-7500 on an 8 foot single axle trailer. Any single axle trailer would be difficult to control with that much weight. Personally, I haul my JD4100 on a dual axle 16' trailer with brakes. I really felt uneasy hauling my tractor on this trailer without brakes. A single axle trailer without brakes is just a bad accident waiting to happen. Even a single axle trailer with brakes is too lightweight for this use.

Re: What\'s the real weight of my tractor?

I've got a single axle that I made.
It is 6' X 12' 2x4x1/4" tube frame and a mobile home
axle (7000# rated) w/12ply lowboy tires.
I've hauled my L2900 w/FEL and BH on it.
Also hauled JD 250 SSL and not had any
problems now I have a tandem axle 7' X 20' trailer
so I can haul more attachments.
