I found the vaunted 8" Jinma chipper locally for sale guy wants $750. Looks above average in picture.
What's it worth?

I bought my 6" Jimna about 5 years ago for 1250-1450 Plus 150 shipping if i remember correctly. Heck, a new set of blades cost about 135.00 from ranchhandsupply

As long as you know the pitfalls of Jinma's...

Talked to seller. A guy was coming to buy it at 6:30, so looks like it's gone. I had to coach a football practice, so there's was no way I could get there tonight. Said it was a Jimna, but no ID tag on machine to prove it. No owners manual, either. Said autofeed was troublesome and he modified it with truck steering U-joints to fix it??? Uhhh OK.
Siad the paint job was the worst he had ever seen. Paint failed immediately.
I think I might pass on it.

hmmm, mine is about 5 years old and theres a Jimna serial number plate rivited on the front. The paint still looks brand new, My auto feed roller works great. This one sounds like he major abused it or ots one of the many knock offs out there.

I think that's the story here. Sounds like a knock off. I wasn't aware there were knock-offs of this chipper!!!

Ya there are a few brands that look exactly like the Jimna, labeled under different names. All i can say is mine is made of very heavy plate steal, all the welds are tight, and the machine has always operated GREAT. No issues at all for 5 seasons.

Bought a used jinma for a little more than that and have about an additional 150 into it. It's okay though with the new parts it does work better. Need to take the blades out and sharpen next.

Jinma, KPX, Liberty, Woodmaxx and a number of other private labeled machines are similar, but there are some differences mainly in the feed systems. The modified feed shaft is probably a good thing because early models had cheap u-joints and were known to fail quickly.
