I ordered a J.D. flail mower first week of june, dealer thought it would be a week or two until they recieved it. A day or two after that ,the dealer contacted me and said it would be six weeks at least to get.I`m happy with the dealer and salesperson, however, is this a typical lead time for delivery of an implement?

Something like a flail mower, which likely is outsourced by JD, could take a while if one was not present in stock. I would say one month would be average if not a little longer. JD also has a bad habit of telling folks one thing and then it either shows up the next day or months down the road, especially with implements. I would encourage your dealer to call his district rep if you are really in a hurry. My experience has been when the dealer calls the DR, things happen quickly, because JD does not like to make people wait on a sold product.

I ordered a JD/Frontier boxblade in Jan '05, was told 6-8 weeks, no big deal since I wouldn't need it 'til spring - it arrived in June '05. I lost several scheduled jobs because of the delay.

The dealer was very apologetic and said delivery of the Frontier stuff had become a real problem. He was nothing but green (for a looong time) for everything but now he's carrying Befco attachments.

Stay on them to get your mower during the season.
