What's up at welding web?

   / What's up at welding web? #61
Some comments I read on the internet said that WeldingWeb did not bring in very much advertising revenue and the owners might not bring it back for that reason. I wonder how WW actually stacks up with advertisers. Seems to me it would be a good place to advertise metal working equipment, supplies, and hardware.

The reason it doesn't is that advertisers are afraid of being attacked on that site and it takes time and resources or the users of their products making the site become the "de facto" place of support for their product, because it is the first place people go to to complain and try to blackmail companies into all kinds of things, i.e. getting free product. Penton does little to help protect advertisers. They even penalize them as in our case because new posts in our sponsored forums are not allowed to show up in the main threads but non paying brands are allowed to show up. Even moderators are adversarial and get away with it, when contributing sponsors post elsewhere giving genuine help or comments by telling them to "go back downstairs"(where the sponsored forums are kept out of sight)if the moderator doesn't like the way the comment leans.

Well you got part dat right Mark.
Peton pretty much turned loose of the place a year or so back when they let Captain Acetone and the Shipping Clerk take over runnin it.
Far as bein afraid, truth to tell people who are afraid probably ought to be doin something other than welding. You can get burned welding and burns hurt.

Your idea of defending sure seems to be wiping out anything you don't like when it gets posted. That only floats with girlymen, so you should be right at home IF dat welding glee club ever comes back. Sure don't look like dat be today like Captain Acetone was running his mouth all weekend thou.

Have a nice day and see if you got the guts to leave this post up.

Huh? I'm talking about civility and slander. Not honest to goodness complaints. I'm not sure I can read your writing, as it seems more out of something from Uncle Remus...but if I can this kind of post is what I am talking about being cancer and why advertisers don't do more over there.

What guts? I don't have control over this forum, never did, never wanted it.
