Back in 1999 or 2000 my Army unit went to the National Training Center at Fort Irwin, CA for a rotation. I was working in the Brigade S3 shop as part of the planning staff and shared a air-mobile frame tent with about 7 or so other officers from the staff. When had moved to a new location earlier in the day and at about 3 am after long planning cell, I decided to go back to the tent and catch a couple hours sleep. Of course being tactical, we only used red lense flashlights. With no moon illumination you had to make sure you were familar with the layout during the daylight. Usually you would walk out the tent, point a certain direction, and walk so many paces. Well I walked outside the plans tent, oriented myself, and took off knowing our tent was a certain # of paces. I walked about the right distance, but there was no tent to be seen. I walked around a little and found cots and duffle bags sitting just as we had set them up earlier in the day. The tent was picked up by the wind and set down on a dirt trail about 75' away. Found some help and staked the tent down and then moved all the stuff to our new home. It was amazing that no one really lost anything. Most of the sleeping bags were still on the cots, it just looked like we set everything up under the stars.
Good luck!!

I'll give you a hint, 50 mph winds here today.
well you probably guessed right, Somehow the wind picked up the shelter that was staked down on all 4 corners with 2' re bar on a 45 deg angle and clamped to frame and tightened with a impact wrench, and placed it about 30' from where it was. It actually turned 180 deg and never flipped over. Its like a crane picked it up, spun it 180deg and sat it down by the woods. I only found one dime size hole it. Now I have to take it apart, move it and reassemble it where it was, then get some 3' re bar for new anchors, probable 6 or 8 this time.
Well I know what Im doing tomorrow
btw did you notice it didnt even knock over the bicycles when it took flight, go figure!
