What\'s wrong with this picture???

This (if I can get it to paste) is from the J.D. Owner/Operator forum regarding forklifts "JD pallet fork equivalent?", or some thing close to that. Heres a link that you might find interesting from a safety viewpoint.

http://www.ezhitch.biz/ez_lift_forks

Not sure that worked and still can't figure how to shorten links to a couple of words. Oh well, you can go to that forum's thread, or try googling the ezhitch website.

How many safetey issues can be counted in this company's advertisement pic.'s, especially the one with the chainsaw? Amazing that no one said a word about it in that thread. I figured I'd post here instead of muddying that thread.

Just from what I remember:

- No Helmet
- No Face protection
- No long sleeves (may be a bit optional...)
- SHORTS /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif
- No "chaps" /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif
- No gloves /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif
- Probably, from other pic.'s, No Boots /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif
- Log appears to not be pinned down in any way /forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif
- the list goes on....

To add to your list:

No ear protection /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif
He is standing so that his head is directly above/behind the bar so that if there is any kickback it will hit him upside the head /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif
Eye protection could be better /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Re: What\'s wrong with this picture???

In addition to the safety issues, there are a few I'd like to add. And this goes mostly to folks who have not been around TBN for more than a year.

Someone who probably was inovlved in sales of that item (???) used to SPAM this website drumming up free advertising. He'd pawn himself off as a new member who just got the thing and go into a sales pitch. Then he'd sign up under a different name and do it again. He kept the moderators busy deleting his posts for a while.

In additon to that is the price, while I did not check into the price when I pulled up the website this time, the last time I looked, the price was amazingly high. For the price of just the base unit/bale spear thing, you could go out and buy several dedicated implements. Now that may not be the case today, but it was back than.

On a better note, I was personally contacted by them after being very critical of their tactics and price. They were very professional and they made me an offer to try one of their units at their cost, I will say I didn't follow up on their offer, but they were gentlemen to make it. They have since stopped their tactics on this site and seem to have a great concept. Not sure if the value is there or not, but like I said, I didn't price it after visiting the link you provided.

What's wrong is the chainsaw is not running.

Haven't any of you seen the new saws with the remote start? One never knows when a neighbor hitting their remote garage door opener might just start your saw on you.... Never can be too safe! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Shouldn't he be holding onto the chain brake/kickback lever too, instead of the handle?

Re: What\'s wrong with this picture???

The chainsaw pic is definately the worst. Beside not being properly equiped, I think all of us relize that if that saw was running, he'd be a bloody mess. Who in their right mind would cut a log of that size perilously balanced like that. As soon as he would cut, the log would kick back and pin him to the ground.

I see that a trailer ball is mounted on top of the carryall, allowing maximum leverage to flip the tractor doing the towing. Maybe thats not the intent of that ball hitch, but somebody would use it that way.

No seatbelt while operating the tractor in pics 2 &3

Questionable milk crate tool box in last pic. Maybe I'm being nit-picky, but if it is full of 3/8" chain, it could be an operator danger when its tossed around on rough terrain or a side hill.
