Another blower use is cleaning the lint out of the clothes dryer vent. First time I tried it I had my son outside watching on a cell phone so he could report back what he saw. When I started it all I heard was coughing and gagging since so much lint blasted him in the face. Note that I do have an electric blower also that I use for this. Washer / dryer room in the basement is a little small and tight to be using a gas motor.

I love my compressor but sometimes volume is king.

Genuis inspired! Or was it Guinness inspired? :drink: Either way, great idea! I think I'll start a thread for other uses.

I'll kind of echo the thought on a dremmel being a waste, although I used it for one job and pretty much had to have it. It works I just use it once about every three years. I also own a set of crows feet wrenches. They kind of look like a cut off open ended wrench that fit on the end of a 3/8" extension. I've had them for about 25 years have used them maybe twice.

A Dremel is one of those things that looks just oh so handy! Fact is, they are WAY over priced and the accessories must be made of gold. I've found it far less expensive to purchase a run-of-the-mill small grinder.

IMO...Folks that do not perform tasks that require finesse will find little use for a Dremel tool...for those that do it is often the tool of choice...and sometimes there are few substitutes...

Hmm, never used it to start a fire. That's a great idea (and obvious to everyone except me apparently)!

You crank that blower up to full when you have a wood pile burning and you'll make it seem like a blast furnace:D

On a sidenote, when we first bought our place, my stupidest "non buy" at the time was a trailer (NOT buying one). What did I do instead? Got two 4x8 plywood boards, tied them together at the the 4' side, hooked them up to the truck, piled the brush on the boards, strapped them down, then hauled them off dragging the two 4x8 boards behind the truck. The next year when I bought a 6x14 trailer, I thought I was sooo stupid for not getting one in the first place:laughing:

Sometimes reading these posts all you can do is laugh!

For the finesse jobs, I like a small air-powered pencil grinder as opposed to a dremel. The dremel is just too bulky for the things I like a pencil grinder for.

In my original post on the Dremel tool I said I used the flexible extension which virtually turns the Dremel into the same thing as a pencil grinder etc...but I agree the Dremel tool body is cumbersome for many things...

Seeing all the posts about leaf blowers: I bought a gutter cleaning attachment kit for my leaf blower, thought it save me from moving around a ladder. Worst purchase ever.

Trying to balance 10ft+ of 3"-4" plastic tubing that only snaps into the blower with 2-3" inches of overlap while holding the blower trigger with one hand is impossible. Once it gets a couple degrees off vertical it would just pop off the blower. Okay: Lets drill that sucker and put a bolt through it. That helped the connection, but still awkward to use.

Now that I got it to hold together I can then see it's pretty ineffective on anything but dry maple leaves. Any sort of twig or a wet clump of pine needles & you're better off getting the ladder.
Plus it can't clean out the gutter drain opening which is where 90 of the problem is. And how do you know if there's a blockage unless you get out the ladder?

Nope, used it once, to the shed it stays. A 6" wide brush on a long handle let's me clean about 16' of gutter at a time without leaning on the ladder is still preferred method.

Never used the blower for leaves, but it's great for cleaning off large driveways prior to seal coating (sure beats pushing a broom), blowing off equipment, and especially well for blowing out the hot tub water lines when closing it up the fall, etc..

I haven't cleaned the gutters in about 10 years. Since I got Gutta-Gard. Used to have to clean them about twice a year.
