Flat black is fine with me.
It may be a throw back to my drinking days, but black and mud or black and rust just seem to go together like black and tan (-:

One of my "already got half the materials for it" projects is to add better visibility to my FEL buckets.

I sometimes see a loader coming out of a driveway on a back road and it seems that black bucket could do with some "Conspicuity".
I'm sure my own could too when I'm clearing snow and emerge in the early morning half light.
Early morning commuters in their half awake state, trying to balance their tasks of getting to work, cell phone, sucking down caffeine, etc. then WOW a tractor with a dull black bucket to swear at.

So, I'm gonna paint the sides of my buckets with something bright and luminescent, then slap a SMV emblem on each side.
Maybe a 3 or 4 inch triangular strip of yellow or orange, then the SMV emblem in the middle.
The factory paint on the sides of my buckets has survived quite well, so I expect them to last five years or more.

I might even add some of the 2 inch wide white/red conspicuity tape to the loader arms as well.
This may be paranoia, but I really don't want to get sideswiped and emerging from driveways and side streets with a bucket hanging out in front.... it wouldn't take much to spin me around and/or tip me over.

See this thread by 4Shorts on how he addes LED strobes to the loader on his tractor, he also did a similar project for his snowblower.

Thanks for the link,
As a project that is more than I want to get into right now.

It led(pun) me to another thread that included some led whips and strobe whips.
I like those ideas, but for the wiring (-:
For the $6 or so I already have invested in two stick on SMV emblems, plus the can of fluorescent spray paint that I still need to buy, I think I will go with the current plan - for now.

Hmmm. a led whip implemented as a bucket level indicator would work in the dark (-:
Yeah, that might be a doubly good idea - especially in BLUE !!!

Star Wars light Sabre copyrights notwithstanding.

You could not paint it at all and some idgit will come along and paint it that gawdawful green and yellow. They'll probably put dancing antelope stickers all over it too....

Is "rusty" a color?

Now thats funny.
Guess if you paint it primer you can't tell it's rusted.

Implement color is not an issue with me. Black, gray, school bus yellow or an industrial yellow like older JD construction/earth moving equipment yellow seem to fit any implement or colors like the Land pride tan/brown. As I see it its Just paint, wears off the important parts of the implement anyhow!!!! Have you considered a deep, rusty brown color Ted?:D

Ok, just got the pictures of the prototype GB-60 Garden Bedder. Let me know what you think of the design. These will ship in two packages via UPS to your front door for the most convenience.

A couple of features are the rounded corners on everything to keep you from getting cut up or ripping your jeans:thumbsup: as well as the stronger clevis style hitch and Quick Hitch Compatibility to Speco or John Deere Imatch hitches. Plenty of Width Adjustment options, and two knuckles securing the bedder discs from flaring out providing a rigid raised garden bedding system.

The prototype is two tone "Kubota Chassis Grey" on the frame and red knuckles and sweeps. Final version will be . . . . what do you think about the grey?
