Not saying it's the best or prettiest...But the only shotgun I use or have ever owned for hunting is a Coast-to-Coast (yes, the hardware store) 12 gauge pump. I believe it is a Mossburg knock-off. It is the first gun I bought (when i was 12 years old) and I think I paid $129 for it with the vented rib. Still gets plenty of birds but think I am going to retire it after this year and look at some over/unders.
Funny story from last years hunting trip...the magazine guides on this gun are getting a little worn and doesn't always release a shell into the chamber after it's pumped. Anyway, last year we got into some chuckers and I was putting some ammo in the magazine. Shoved my thumb into the magazine too far and those little clips that hold the shell got a hold of my thumb. The more I pulled on my thumb, the deeper those clips dug into my skin. worst part-had to ask one of my buddies for help and we took the gun apart in the field (chuckers still flying too) and never heard the end of it.
Now that I think about it, maybe I better retire old coast-to-coast now before I leave for pheasant hunting next week.
