Considering buying a gc2300 off the friend In my last post, for 5.8K aud, it comes with a deck and spreader, and seems to have no issues, but would anyone here recommend them/what are your experiences with them?
Hey thanks man, so I talked to him and found out it has 1500 hours, no loader, but a mid-mount, sofar the only one I have even seen with that low a price, as for condition, it's pretty good, just missing the grill on the bonnet, and it's always been serviced and maintained at the right intervals (atleast what he told me that is)Massey has made an outstanding SCUT in the GC series for several years, nearly two decades and still do with the 1700 series. They are still very similar to your GC2300 you are looking at. The GC2300 was made from 2003 - 2008. I had a GC2400 for about 5 years (essentially the same tractor a few years newer). It was a great tractor and would own one again. I put them up there with Kubota and Yanmar because they are built by Iseki and I like the way those three Japanese companies source their parts (Mostly build their own machines). I would put them above JD
Now for the tractor you are looking at, no idea if that is a good buy or not. How many hours? Is your friend good about maintaining things? If he is and the hours on that are below 1,000 hou. rs AND it has a loader, that is a great deal. If it doesn't have a loader, pass on that price, there are better deals out there on no-loader tractors.
Honestly, no one on this site is able to help you much without more info on the one you are looking at. Loader, hours, condition, maintenance history etc?
That is what always knocks the other brands out of the running for most of the folks who are in the market for a tractor. Kubota and Deere have a network advantage over all the other brands. An out of town dealer has to be better and offer more than a local dealer and that is a very tough hurdle to climb over. Most can't do it.When I was looking for my last tractor Massey was neck and neck with kubota for my applications. The deterring factor for me came down to it’s an almost 2 hour drive to Amy of the dealers. In the days of online ordering that doesn’t seem like much but if I have a breakdown on a Saturday the kubota dealer is 5 minutes away. I was really impressed with the Massey and had there been a closer dealer would have purchased it
