What's your ideal snow removal tool?

A ticket to Florida.....

Similar idea, I was going to answer with May.

I'd pick a Deere 6330 with inverted blower, loaded front tires, hydraulic chute rotation, hydraulic top hat on chute and hydraulic top link. There's no (well very little) worries about having snow too deep to drive thru. Low gear with diff lock I've been thru snow as high as the front tires with no problems. With using split brakes, you can turn within your length

The buddy seat is not as great as people think. There's no give to them other than the foam and little leg room. Good for training people or perhaps your kid that is too young to stay home by themself but to me having someone else in the cab is just a pain to me.

My ideal snow removal tool would be my wife in a bikini shoveling the driveway. In fact that's how all the snow gets removed from my driveway.

One day I was sitting on the porch taking a gulp of Schnappes from my flask while I was watching her shovel and the nosy neighbor came over and said you should be hung for watching her shovel the drive, to which I replied I am, thats why she shovels the drive. :D

I was kidda thinking that. If it's not comfortable she wouldn't come along... and I kinda like spending time with her. : ) I might fell differently in another 25 or 30 years. LOL!

The inverted blower sounds like a great idea... so why aren't they more common?

PS; I should have expected tractors to be the popular choice on a tractor forum! LOL

2 reasons I see, the main one being price. The 92" commercial blowers are going to run you around 10 grand. Not only that, but you need a good size tractor to pull it.

The other reason is most of us have CUT sized machines, and therefor, not a ton of ground clearance for big snow storms. The larger tractors have a foot and a half or more. You can go through a lot more than a foot and a half with one though.

I see the inverted blower as the ideal setup. It's virtually unstoppable for most parts of the country, your driving forward, and if you have to deal with drifts, you still have a FEL. The problem with a front mount blower, is if you want to do ANYTHING else with the loader, you have to swap back and forth between loader and blower.

In my opinion, this is the ideal setup. But like I mentioned before, very pricey! :)

My ideal snow removal tool would have to be my 3 point snow blower. I love cutting through 3' snow banks with it and watching the snow fly. I don't mind turning around to see.

Ah! I guess I should have mentioned I don't exactly have an unlimitied budget... but you never know... I might be loaded by then! LOL Not to mention a tractor that size pretty much throws "manuverable" out the window... however this is a hypothetical, so all ideas welcome. : )

Would there ever be a reason you wouldn't want the blower on the front?

In my web window shopping I'm looking at 40hp range of tractor for size and cost.

Anyone ever tried screw in tire studs? Wondering it they'd be ok on pavement (without spinning too much) but still provide some ice traction.

I guess they'd need to be for a dedicated winter set of tires.

I have the on my dirtbike. 11cents each. They really grip on the ice. On the pavement they go click click click as you move along.
