Re: what\'s your new toy?

Looks like some old abandoned equipment that had very small plow type shares with flexible metal concentric coiled tubes running from the wooden box to behind the share. The seed just gravity fed down to be placed and covered by the following share. Little adjustable holes at the top of each tube regulated the rate of seed used. That's just a very little one. A four horse model was a lot bigger. They did'nt work all that well but could save time in cultivation prior to seeding. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

By the way that one is a whole lot older than you.

nomad,

It's called a Kubota RTV. It's powered by a 3-cyl Kubota diesel. There are 4 different models. The price on this one was about $10500. As equiped, I have about $13000 into it.

That is one cool little machine.

You're not getting away with just a picture. Now you have to tell us all about it. Is it comfortable? Is it stable enough at higher speeds to drive it pretty fast? How does it pull... and so on! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

For all kinds of details, opinions... on the RTV, go on down to the ATV & Utility Vehicles forum on TBN. There's a lot of us out there with the RTV. Specs and stuff are on Kubota's web site.

To give you some specifics so you don't have to read all the threads:

It's very comfortable. Seating for 3 is a little tight but it is a bench seat.

It weighs close to 2000#. About 90% of that is from the seat on down. It's a very stable machine and I've never felt like it would tip (but of course, use common sense).
The RTV only does about 25MPH but again, very stable. It has power steering so turning at any speed isn't an issue.

How much can it pull? We don't know yet. I have yet to see a post where the RTV couldn't pull nor haul something. Steep hills are a constraint but on flat ground or minor hills, many of us have been towing 3000# or over with no issues. Personally, I watch the tongue weight though. It only has a 1 1/4" receiver (front and rear).

Hauling (in the box). I've put about 1300# in the box. The steering feels a different but not in any way unsafe. The hydraulic tilt dumped it easily. No other issues I've found carrying this amount of weight.

The RTV is more of straight out work machine as compared to the Yamaha Rhino and Polaris Ranger. JD Gators may be comparable but are a little lighter duty (IMHO).

My RTV (as pictured) aren't exactly what they look like when purchased.
I've purchased (OEM add-ons):
Speedometer (it comes with temp and fuel gauges).
Front mud flaps

I've purchased (aftermarket):
Tires/rims
Ramsey 3000# winch

I made/added:
New box (OEM is metal, mine is wood with storage compartments and stuff, stained black)
Ceiling panel (which has a stereo, amp, 4 speakers, extra 12V plug, switch panels...)
Accessory rod (top front of cabin) which has spotlight, pistol holder, GPS holder, rear-view mirror...)
Windshield (lexan with quick disconnect to remove)
Rifle mount on side of box
Center seatbelt
4 front lights
1 cabin light
1 box light
2 side lights
Next items are brush guards for the headlights and going to get a deep cycle marine battery.

Darn that's a nice dump trailer!
What's the load capacity Nomad? )</font>

have_blue,

It is about 1 ton, that is, about 2200 LB.
Its wagon (inside) dimensions are approx. 5' x 5'6" x 1'8" (height). And the price? Very good for such a complete unit with the gearbox, shift, brakes and new tires.

Weird, but I was thinking the same thing when I saw the 1800# specs on the Kubota web site. My friend has a Samurai, and he does about everything with it.

Re: what\'s your new toy?

Thanks Nomad.

I think there's a good market for a simple, rugged, inexpensive, 1 ton dump trailer here in the USA.

Have_blue,
Maybe. But I am not interested in marketing anything to the USA. However, if anyone interested, I can give the name of manufacturer of such trailers.
