Wheel motor off and to the doctor

They also use small crossbows to shoot a line across a drop ceiling in real large call centers etc. I use the plastic bag trick a lot

I've seen people use remote control electric cars to pull a string across a large suspended ceiling as well.
Another trick, not wire related. If you need to take the plug or a fitting out of the bottom of a full hydraulic tank, put as shop vac on a fitting above the oil level. The vacuum will hold the oil from running out. Just make sure the vac is on the suck and not blow (ask me how I know) ....get ur minds out of the gutter LOL

We tried a little dart gun that had a fishing reel on it. The darts had a ring on the tip instead of the rubber suction cup like when we were kids. It worked OK, but the problem was the dart had no mass, and if you hit something in-flight, it would glance off sharply in an unwanted direction. Or if it hit the edge of the ceiling grid, it would bounce back towards you and the fishing line would very often wrap on the little wire stubs from the grid suspension cables and you'd have to go and open another tile and untangle it. The best thing about that little gun was shooting your coworkers in the back whenever possible. :D

Called the shop today to check in on my wheel motor. He said that the brake pads are back orderd. 3 more weeks My neighbor suggested i take the pads to a local company that restores pads. hmmmm.... not sure what to do....

Could your neighbor be thinking of a different kind of brake pad. I don't see how one would generically restore them.

Have you tried ordering the brake pad yourself? I can often find things on the internet that my local parts guy doesn't find. I think he looks it up in his system, and that's the answer.

All the best,

Peter

They probably remove the lining from the steel backing and install new lining, at least that is what the place a friend of mine was talking to was going to do when he was looking at getting a batch of Volvo 700/900 series parking brake shoes redone.

Not that kind of brake pad. (See the diagram earlier in the thread.) These are wet hydraulic brakes.

All the best,

Peter

Well, I am $1200 lighter in the wallet but got the wheel motor back and on today. No perceptable changes.

Interesting chat with the wheel motor guy. I was saying I was worried about scoring in my other wheel motors (there is some debris in the system from a bad hose that pops up now and then). He said "either it works or it doesn't" Only time to be concerned is when it doesn't work. Other than that keep plugging along.

Yeah, I guess it would be hard to justify cracking open components to SEE if there is wear in them, and then IF you do find wear, how do you measure how or IF that wear is actually affecting production or longevity? Do you just accept perceived or measured performance issues and run it till it don't run no more, and when do you justify the cost or danger of taking a peek inside, and the whole can o worms that peek might open?

Hook a filter cart up to those hoses shunting around motors and pumps?
