LD1, I usually only have the quick hitch off the rear. I have a smaller cement block that I've used on there (needs some frame fabrication) that I bought off an older gentleman with a smaller John Deere. Sometimes the turns are tight in the woods, so I don't want anything large. I understand you math, and I can't speak for exactly how much it weighs. We've been hauling ash, most of which is dead, but some is heavier/alive. It's mainly backing out of areas going up the inclines that gives me any trouble. If it's flat ground I'm good. I'm hoping to get to a happy medium where I don't "need" rear ballast to do work in the woods. The extra weight has helped push into dirt piles to drive better as well. Thanks for the input.
