I searched the forum under this phrase and found nothing on it. Can someone tell me where to get some weights for my 2200. After loading some dirt in a truck and without the tiller on the PTO, I noticed that the tractor was more than front heavy with a loaded bucket. This is fine with the bucket low, but when going over the side of a pickup, it can get a little tipsy.......and I dont even like carnival rides. I assume the dealer, but with all the wonderful knowledge of those on the boards, my guess is that someone has a great idea that works as well if not better.

thanks in advance.

You may want to look for used older weights from Garden Tractors etc. I re-used the weights that were on my Cub1811 when I bought it, and they were re-used from a Bolens tractor by the previous owner. I simply re-painted them Kubota Orange and they mounted up perfectly on my BX. Only had to replace the bolts with 1/2" longer ones.

Another option is a rear ballast box or weight. The attached picture shows mine with both the wheel weights and the rear ballast box. Kubota sells the box and it cost me about $165 when I purchased my unit.

Several people have made there own rear ballast by making a concrete form which is another option probably easier.

Another popular option is the EZ-Weights product or homemade versions of it using barbell weights bought at thrift stores for cheep.

There are many options, and some quite clever.

Good luck in your search.

The wheel weights will help, but you will get a better result with a weight box or heavy implement on the 3pt. Why? because you can get the weight farther back for a more stable and center of gravity. I have a weight that I madef from a galvanized wash tub filled with concrete, but often just put the backhoe on my BX22 when moving heavy loads in the bucket.

I actually thought of that and have a "reason" now for a carry all........build a box on it, put in some "weight" and it is alot "safer" to use the loader.........

Off to the TSC store.

Carry-all is great to have...I also bought the one from TSC. Do remember that it sticks way out the back of the machine "a lot". I left it on one time when I was "ploughing" snow and it limited my backing up abilty bit-time. As long as you have plenty of manuvering space, the carry-all will do the job with some stuff on it for additional weight, but pay attention to whether or not it interferes with where you can go when you need the weight to balance the FEL. Regardless...the price is right for the carry-all and it will be very useful to have many times!

I run both a weight box and loaded tires on my 2200. The only draw back with the box is that it sticks out back a bit and you have to remember that it is on when plowing....I left an orange stripe on the trim around my garage!
The box stays on all the time unless I am mowing.....no chance of that for a month or so....still snowing!

Have decided the carry all with some rocks (plenty of them here) will do what I want and I can use it for other things when the loader is not on. Thought about adding tire weight, but I want to change over to turfs for the grass cutting season and dont really need all that weight for that.

thanks all

I believe the Kubota manual suggests sand in the ballast box. I used to use rocks but realized if I tipped over those rocks would spill out and may hit me. I now use sand.

I also use sand. I bought bags of kids play sand. It was relatively cheap and I can put them in and out if needed for extra traction/ballast.

We have good cast weights from a company called Nohr State. They are heavier and of better quality than the Kubota weights. I'd sell ya a pair, but I am sure your not going to want to pay the shipping. Ask a local dealer and see what they can get you. A pair of ours is under $100.
