I am wanting to add some wheel weights to my tractor. Do I need to get these from my dealer, or are they universal? I measuresd the mounting holes for them and they are 16" apart and there are four of them. I was hoping to find some used ones at a tractor salvage yard that would fit.

Also on another note how much weight can be added? I saw a guy with a JD approx 75 horse the other day and he had 5 wheel weights on each tire. I am guessing these weights were at least 100lbs each.

I am hoping to add around 600lb to my tractor, or 300lb per wheel.

Guess it depends on what tractor you have, or did I miss something?

How about filling your bio out? /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Some of the John Deere wheel weights hit the scales at around 200 lbs each (For "row-crop" tractors) Ones for the 30" cast centers on my 2440's are 155 each. All dpends on style of weight. They ARE NOT universal. You may find some that will interchange between tractor brands, but it would be mostly luck.....

Bigger tractors (with heavier axles, wheel bearings, ect..) can handle weight better than smaller, lighter tractors. I'd bet your owners manual has some info on the subject.

I don't know about the bio or how to do it, but my tractor is listed in my signature which is on every post.

Indy,

I love my tractor, but the owners manual is crap. It has 10 pages about safety, how to put diesel in, how to check the oil, but it has zero info on the stuff that is not obvious or would be useful. My tractor is made in Korea and the manual is written by someone that was not really good at english.

Anyway to make a long story short it makes no refrences about how much weight can be added. All it says is that rear wheel weights are optional.

Okay, but I don't take the space to show signatures, so I guess I miss what tractor you are talking about.

You can click on your 'name' and it will take you to your bio. That is where you can let us know what you have too. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

bdog, there was a company called EZ Weights, I used their system to install some weights on my tractor wheels, EZ Weights used standard bar bell weights. As they are now out of business, the next best thing to inexpensive weighs is to make your own carry system. TBN member JerryG made his own bar bell weight holder.

Here is a link to Jerry's photo. It is very similar to what I bought. Basically you bolt into the accessory holes on the wheel, slip your weights on to a 1" diameter threaded rod, and then hold them in place with a lock nut.

JerryG's home made wheel weight holder.

That wasn't so bad... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
