Rant here I guess but ive gotten used to the downsizing of all the food items .But I buy 50 lbs of feed and dog food now for over 50 years. Today I find 50 lbs of wal mart dog food. cheap ,as usual. The bag says 52 lbs. then it says 5 lbs free. Is this reverse pricing? LOL crazy.. I always have to be one step ahead of their thinking..:laughing:

Net weights change, but packaging will remain the same - you ALWAYS have to monitor the unit pricing

This trick is common in advance of a price increase. You are happy with what amounts to 2 free pounds (forget the 5 free lbs. It is 5 free on top of the new 47 which is the same as 2 free on top of the old 50). Then that promotion goes away and you end up paying the same price for 47 lbs. that used to get you 50lbs. It's been done with coffee and cereal and a host of other products for years.

I'd be wary if they start advertising it as "Fun Size".

Or "Two Scoops" of goodness in every bag!

I guess the part that I don't get is that the packaging and transportation on most things probably costs more than the ingredients. But I guess they all have to show "top-line" growth in order to satisfy Wall Street.

10 years ago dog food was $25 for 50 lbs, now it's $50 for 25 lbs. :confused2:

I bought a 60 lb bag of Sakrete Concrete Mix over the weekend, it felt like it weighed 80!!
I doubt if your dog will eat it though. :)

This isn't your issue. It sounds like the dog will be going on a diet....

Easy fix, feed the dog turnip greens. Save some money. Light weight. Get to use your tractor to plant em. Win win Ya i know, you are going to say your dog will not eat turnip greens. Mine did not either for the first two weeks

Thanks to comedian Jerry Clower for the back ground on that one.

This is so true. Case in point. Baby aspirin.I take daily. well wally world sells a three package for the lowest cost....BUT when I get home I open two out of the three and add them to the one ,,,and then also add any I already had on hand to it. And it still isnt a full bottle. What a waste of packaging ..fuel etc to transport.
