Guys I looked at the bigger tractor and it would be to big for my property, I have around 18 acres of woods to navigate thru to get firewood. I could look at a 3000 series but I know nothing about them and what the john deers numbers mean, but once again I might not be able to afford that line. I have to take advantage of the Jd financing so buying used is out of the question and if I buy new, I know how it was taken care of.

Hey Tom,
Bigger is always better, but those magic words "what can I afford" play a big part too. You'll be fine with a 2520. Dealing with logs, I watched what my neighbor can do with a 2305. It's all about using common sense and knowing the limitations of the machine. Forgetting to apply those two very important principles is what gets you in trouble. That tractor will do you just fine for what you have in mind.
Good luck with your decision:D

Thanks everyone, but back to my original questions... Is there anything I should get as far as hydraulics etc. Things I would want factory installed? do they have tooth bars for the bucket? How about being able to add forks if I ever wanted to? what would I need? lighting and stuff I can add myself.

Hey Tom,
JD does offer a tooth bar. If you get it with the tractor purchase,it may be alot cheaper than buying aftermarket. The 61" heavy duty is drilled for a cutting edge too. It sure saves the bucket edge from wear. Only drawback is,in order to use the tooth bar,I'm pretty sure the cutting edge would have to come off.

As for forks, there are the ones that clamp right to the bucket. I don't have them, but I'm sure someone will give their opinion on them.

It might not be a bad idea to get the power beyond installed (rear hydraulics) too. It will be a heck of a lot cheaper than doing it after the purchase.
I'd get them to install a block heater too.
