When did I lose control?

Yep, I remember over 12 years of lambs every spring, shearing, training, and fair sales in August every year.
One of my neighbors had kids that would show sheep in 4H.

Well he got this sheep that was stubborn... and they could not get it to do what they needed to do for showing.

So they got another lamb and started all over.

Now he's got this black sheep that's just freeloading now and was trying to figure out what to do with it.

So one night he slips it into the cow pasture across the street from him (he's on the south end, we live on the west side of the pasture) to play a joke on the guy who owns the cattle since they are good friends.

It also happened to be calving time, so there were about a dozen calves running around the pasture.

It took the cattle owner 3 weeks before he realized there was a sheep in with his cattle

On a side note, it took us 6 months living on our property before we realized there was a sheep over there

We always had several lambs. But any that didn’t make the 4H auction when on the packer’s truck after the fair. I picked them up a few weeks later in cut up and frozen packages, ready for the freezer.

True, it could always be worse, but I know that is exactly what will happen in my future. Every step forward means another scheme for her to add more dogs to the herd, or something else. Now she is talking about getting Emus!!!
This isn't gonna help, but a cousin of mine had a couple Emus. He said they were fun and followed him around like dogs. But they'd steal stuff you were working on, like tools and such, so had to keep an eye on them. Overall, he always smiled when talking about them.

15 cats (I don't like cats) and the Aussie Shepard that we have professionally groomed and washed every month. He grows hair faster than anything I've ever seen. Got him through Aussie Rescue. Spoiled rotten and sleeps on the bed between us every night.

That reminds me of another money pit. The Akita Pool!!! They will drink out of it, and one of them will walk into it when it's shallow, but none of them are into swimming. Fortunately, I enjoy using it, and when the grandson is here, he loves it.
I love having a simple wading pool. It's probably one of the most enjoyable things for me, on a summer evening after dinner. Mine is just a 6' galvanized trough, that I clad in cedar. But it's perfect for 2 of us to sit in and cool off. It also has a wood fired heater. It's a coil of 1.25" diameter stainless tubing that you build a fire in the center of the coils. Thermal siphon makes cool water enter the bottom and hot exit the top. I shielded it with some left over galvanized when I did the "proof of concept". I need to buy some 304 stainless and remake the shielding now that I know it works so well. I also have a festive colored welding umbrella that hangs over the pool.

That looks pretty sweet! How did you bend the 1.25" coils? That's not exactly small tubing in my book.

All the best, Peter

I didn't do the bending. I bought it from a China outfit that makes them for the purpose, with multiple options. However, I did learn there are companies domestically that also do it. It's similar to this:
Wood Fired Coil Kit

I think mine was about 1/2 the cost and I could choose the end types. I chose 1 1/2" Male threaded ends and they screw directly into bulkhead fittings I put on the side of the pool.

I was taking one home from the dealer without telling the wife. Dealer left a message with my wife before I got home. She was out side waiting and not exactly calm. There was a thermonuclear reaction in her head....
