When did I lose control?

Dogs, horses, tractors, cars, boats, airplanes, tools, all ways to spend a lot of money you'll never get back. Pick you poison.
There are no pockets in a coffin. You make sure you're not a burden to those around you and try to help with the wellbeing of those you leave behind. You better enjoy the rest of it while you can, because nothing in life is guaranteed and you only take this ride in life once.

Eddie, at some point, everyone gets stretched to thin. It appears that you have many, many things on the go, and I would think, at some point, it becomes to much work and not enough play. When all the hobbies, joys etc. become a burden, hard decisions have to be made for the well being of both you and your wife. Only you folks can decide when that time is to start cutting back on all the different wants and wishes.

As others have said ... you lost control somewhere between "Dearly Beloved" and "You may now Kiss the Bride". Obviously, you understood the trade-off occurring ... but the upside is 1) you get lots of fresh produce, 2) she's probably a fantastic cook given she's interested in growing so much fresh food, and 3) she actually encourages you to engage in your "shop" activities instead of seeking "quality" time exploring you feelings or in front of the TV watching something that puts you to sleep. All Wins in my book.

Count your blessings, Eddie. Like you, I married an East Texas gal...and am proud of it. She has more money tied up in sewing machines, than I do in my tractor. Look at it this way; you never really had control, only influence on someone who puts her family first, but is also an individual. Keep on truckin' and God Bless!

Another example of how far it's gone. I'm married to a "Crazy Chicken Lady" She started out with one coop and a dozen birds. That was fine, but then she wanted eggs with more colors. That goal has led to over 200 chickens, and more on the way!!! We have three chicken coops with another one planned.

Since she loves chickens so much, she decided to get guineas. The first dozen didn't make it. The next dozen didn't make it. Then she hatched eggs and raised them like chickens, and they all stuck around the coop. They went from a dozen, to over 40. For the last couple of weeks, she has been finding guinea eggs in one of the coops, and every one of them went into an incubator. She bought her second incubator last year, and the third one this year.

Last year we got some Rio Grande Turkey eggs from a buddy of mine in CA. Three of them hatched. We ate one of the Tom's that became aggressive. The hen started laying eggs about two weeks ago, and right now she is sitting on a bunch of them. But before she started sitting, my wife brought ever egg into the house and into an incubator. One hatched the other day.

Some of the chickens at the main coop. The birds hang out in different areas, in their own group of friends. It surprised us to learn this, but every morning, when they leave the coops, they go to "their" area, and that's where they stay all day.

Thread kind of reminds me about my very expensive Swarovski EL Range bino's I bought for myself and never said a word to Amy. She saw them, knew what they cost and decided she would start collecting Swarovski Crystal. To this day, she's been buying Swarovski and what she has spent on the crystal, my EL Range bino's, pale in comparison cost wise but I keep my mouth shut as a happy wife means a happy life.

Best bino's you can buy today, lifetime guarantee and free servicing should they require it and I look at all the Swaro crystal in her cabinets and say nothing.
