Another example of how far it's gone. I'm married to a "Crazy Chicken Lady" She started out with one coop and a dozen birds. That was fine, but then she wanted eggs with more colors. That goal has led to over 200 chickens, and more on the way!!! We have three chicken coops with another one planned.
Since she loves chickens so much, she decided to get guineas. The first dozen didn't make it. The next dozen didn't make it. Then she hatched eggs and raised them like chickens, and they all stuck around the coop. They went from a dozen, to over 40. For the last couple of weeks, she has been finding guinea eggs in one of the coops, and every one of them went into an incubator. She bought her second incubator last year, and the third one this year.
Last year we got some Rio Grande Turkey eggs from a buddy of mine in CA. Three of them hatched. We ate one of the Tom's that became aggressive. The hen started laying eggs about two weeks ago, and right now she is sitting on a bunch of them. But before she started sitting, my wife brought ever egg into the house and into an incubator. One hatched the other day.
Some of the chickens at the main coop. The birds hang out in different areas, in their own group of friends. It surprised us to learn this, but every morning, when they leave the coops, they go to "their" area, and that's where they stay all day.
