I don't think it does either. People's credibility, or lack thereof, is based on what they post, not on a warning statement.

I'm going to agree that it does not detract from the credibility of the members, but it may say something as to the naivity of some of the members. The disclaimer is there for a reason, is it not. The world is full of seemingly obvious warnings that are put in place to avoid litigation. In this case it must be for one of two reasons, or both perhaps.

It's simply a legal disclaimer that a lawyer thought was necessary (for a good reason), I have no problem with it at all.

It's also proof that this site is a viable business asset that does need to be protected, not just a hobby for the founders.

Also it does provide a degree of protection for all of us, so we don't all have to run our own disclosures in our sig lines. Some guy says it's OK to use just x number of chains to hold down a machine that weighs x amount, only to find out that was not accurate info and have a back hoe land on a minivan! At least we can argue that they were warned to seek professional advice.

Does this warning put a blanket cover over all of us ? And am i being overcautious with my sig ? The way litigation is these days , it's hard to know .
