I just completed my 50 hour service and I noticed in the owners manual that the next oil change should be done at 300 hours. That sure does seem like a long time to go between oil changes.
I wanted to get some insight on when others usually change the oil. I was thinking about every 100 hours.

I would change mine every 100 hours or once a year, whatever comes first. I generally change mine each fall.

On the B3030 I have now and the B7610 that I had before the first change for the engine oil and trans/hydraulic fluid were at 50 hours but the second engine oil change is at 100 hours and the second trans/hydraulic change is at 300 hours. Might be a misprint in your manual?
After the second engine oil change my manual calls for oil changes at every 100 hours.

Regular intervals for my 3320 is every 200 hrs, but I know I'll never reach that in a year. Consequently, I just change it once a year and leave it at that. On my Gator the interval is every 100 hrs, but I probably put less then 20 hrs on it per year. I usually will end up changing it about once every 2 years.

I would go with every 100hrs. Think of it this way if it was a diesel truck going 50MPH at 100 hrs it would have 5000miles on it.
You could probably go longer without any trouble, but for the price of oil compared to parts and down time would it be worth it?

Why : It seems like I'm changing it every time I turn around at 300 hours.

I just change it like the book says and forget about it.
I figure that's what the book's for.

Sounds like the first oil change on a new machine. Follow the manual while under warranty and you can;t go wrong.

*I don't think it's worth 3 times the work time and money so I just go by the operators manual.

Now THAT is good advice. 300 hours, for the average estate guy could be 3 or 4 years. That's too long and two many starts and stops, typical of the estate tractor use. Your mileage may vary. Once a year is no financial burden.

I change mine once/year in the fall, usually about 50-60 hours now. Used to be near 100 every year. The fall is nicer because stuff doesn't stay hot so long. Drain oil while hot but by the time I get to the filter, it will have cooled off a bit. I plan to do the next one in November.

Every 100 hours just as the manual says. I put two hundred hours a year on my tractor.

Every 75 hours along with the filter in my DK45. Running Rotella T Synthetic 5W40.

I change mine by the manual but I think it varies from model to model, depending on the engine size and amount of oil in the system. I know my B2400 is every 100 Hours and the L4740 is every 200 hours. The M5700 at the farm is every 300 hours. In all cases and for my particular usage, it means that the oil and filter get changes at least once a year.

If it makes you feel happier changing the oil every 100 hours, irrespective of what the manual says, then go for it. It's all about buying peace of mind and the additional cost isn't that much.

My b2400 manual says to change the oil every 100 hrs and oil and filter every 200 hrs. I put about 100 hours a year on it and change oil @ 50 hrs and oil and filter @ 100 hrs. I use Rotella or Mobil 15-40 dino. I don't want to go as long as recommended for syn so I use dino and change more frequently. Don't find it an economic burden to change oil twice annually and filter once annually.

I agree with amigauser

Not good to let oil sit too long in the motor, not matter how many hours you've used the machine. I understand the oil's properties can change.

As has been said a million times "cheap insurance".

I change at the interval recommended in the Owner's Manual, or annually, whichever comes first. In fact, all of my manuals list a usage interval and a time interval, i.e. "every 300 hrs or 1 yr, whichever comes first."

hey buddy on my 4105 deere they recomend to change your oil at 200 hrs. when new then a good friend and very good hobby farmer changes his oil on both tractors every fall depending on how much use your tractor gets in a yr. if doing some serious haying you need to change more often;)

some ag tractors are pushing the hrs up tp 300 now..I just change all the motor oil at 150hrs which generally is 2-3 times a year.. rear end oil at 1000hrs and hyd oil maybe a few of times in a machines lifetime unless there are visible problems or a repair requires draining...all filters other than engine at 1000hrs..
