George,
Sorry to hear of your loss.
I feel like a dunce for not mentioning this before and I bet its too late for you at this point but maybe someone else will find it interesting.
We don't bury our dogs but have them cremated. The three dogs we have lost are still with us even though we have moved. They are sitting on a shelf in the study.
That may bother some I guess but I have buried dogs before and will never be able to see the grave site again. At least this way they stay with us.
My GSD is not doing well. Her walking is getting very difficult. She can get around very cautiously but if she tries to do her usuall bounding and running she falls down. I got out of the Safety Zone she keeps me in yesterday so she ran to get me back in the zone and took a nose dive into the gravel. Not good. The vet thinks she has a neurological problem. The wifey is talking to the vets again today. I'm afraid if we can't get an answer quick Kelly ain't gonna make it much longer. She is only 11-12 years old and is otherwise in great health.
One of the hardest things I have done as an adult was picking up Kelly from the litter. It took me almost an hour since I knew one day I would have to loose her. But its part of having a dog.
Dogs are a real gift. Kelly is an exceptional and extraordinary one.
Later,
Dan
