Buying Advice When is the best time to buy?

/ When is the best time to buy? #12
As stated above tractors are not typically seasonal. It is not like a car where every year things are changing. Because of this the model year is rarely mentioned when looking or talking to the dealer. Buy it when you what and don't worry about a season, month, time of month etc like you would when purchasing a car.

Good luck and enjoy whatever you end up with.

So I guess that sales don't slow down in winter in other parts of the country? I thought that maybe slow sales would be incentive for dealerships to sharpen their pencil. Don't know how true it is, my dealer said there wasn't a big profit margin on new tractors as he glanced at the Rolex on his wrist.
Nosurprise........

Small tractors are used as much of not more in northern climates for snow removal so I don't know that there is a slow time up there.

Gotcha, makes sense
Thanks for clarifying that
Little different here.
As a rule for whatever reason tractors sale for less in the deep south lower Alabama area than Northern areas. Pay scale and cost of living too. Maybe that's part of the reasons.

I thought the tractors were imported to the south- areas like Georgia and then assembled and sent to dealers. With that in mind I could see a savings with regards to shipping buying in the south.

Branson and kubota are from Georgia but they have other import locations as well. Kubota loaders and backhoes are manufactured here in Georgia as well

GA must be doing pretty good, JD is built there as well(not all). I agree with the other's.

You're buying into a dealership
Service, service,service
When you can afford it, lot's of 0% interest programs from all
Ask around your area, see what is on most farms or acerage
Implement's, accessories are cheaper on initial purchase
Think of what you need for the long haul
Narrow down to two tractors after initial search(comfort, features, dealer)
Buy a Deere, just kidding:D

Seems there are better prices in August or Sept and then again mid Jan to mid Feb. You want to buy when others are not in the showroom and keep the deal as clean as possible. If you can do it, cash really makes a deal.

To get a deal, you have to do your homework well in advance so you can recognize the deal, negotiate and buy on the spot. No thinking about it or get back to him; choose what he wants to get rid of and buy or go home. I just got a great deal in October on something I really wanted that was just old stock.

Short of the above, you're going to pay upforthe convenience.
