When is your last grass mowing and what is fall mower maintenance?

I just mowed yesterday here in NYS. Its still warm enough and dry enough to let grasses grow. My last mowing will be if the yard becomes too soft to drive on and grasses doesnt look scraggly. Last year, I was already putting the mower deck away as it was cold october. This year its been so warm, I can putt everything off, but I am willing to bet that by the time the deck gotta come off, there will be snow on the ground and thats when I get pissed. I hate doing fall things in the snow.

I'll clean the underside and grease everything up. As far as the RFM, I'll also pull the tractor half of the PTO drive shaft off and spray Fluid Film on both halves. My RFM winters in an unheated out building.
As far as the Zero-turn mower...pretty much the same as far as the mower deck. I'll fill the fuel tank (gasoline tank) and top it off with Stabil....or, I might run it dry....not sure yet and I'll welcome opinions. I do know I don't want to leave that 10% ethanol gas in the tank with no additive. As the mower will also be in the same shed as the RFM, I'll use dryer sheets to keep the rodents away.

We are lucky here and can buy no ethanol fuel here but at end of season still put in Stabil but do cut off fuel and run carbs dry no chance of gumming up over winter.

Last (second) mowing will be as soon as the weather stays dry enough for a couple of days to get on it. Should have been last week but it was too rainy. Maintenance was sharping the blades, lube, and checking the gearbox oil. Maintenance when I'm done will be to sweep the junk off the top of the deck and back it into the shed and unhook from the tractor.

Although rare, it could be snowing before the last mowing. The leaves have not fallen yet, so the MMM is needed to shred at least some of the early falling ones as well as mowing. All depends on the weather and how the rest of my life comes together (or apart). Like others, I hate to do the maintenance/storage when it is cold (no heated garage). All my stuff sits outdoors with/without tarps. I'd like to pressure wash the underside of the deck and paint it, but that probably won't happen. Usually just get the deck(MMM) scraped off pretty good and newly sharpened blades mounted, sat on a skid and covered with a good tarp. And, yeah, gotta check my records for gear box oil level or change it.

I might need to mow one more time, hard to know. I mowed a week ago Thursday.

Maintenance is scrapping underside, blow dust off with air hose, sharpen blades, change oil.

if a mowing does get done again, it will be one high mph, quick pass, to deal with some leaves, and chop the grass down a little bit. then deck comes off, blades sharpened, everything cleaned out and greased up.
the tractor may end up getting used in winter. to help get around the farm in mud. when vehicles would be stuck 2 tires into the mud, the tractor will keep on going. so having deck off lets me go through so deeper mud, or snow banks if need be.

if you are done with the mower for good, pull the battery and bring it inside. granted most folks leave the battery on the mower... but if ya not going to run it for winter snow clean up... and freezing cold temps. bring the battery inside, get another couple years out of battery.

I'll probably mow a couple of times to chop up the leaves, but I made a resolution to myself-no mowing in November! The ZTR will get cleaned and greased, tank filled with treated gas, and battery pulled and put on a trickle charger (mower stored in a building without electricity.)

The RFM will be used once more, then cleaned and greased. The Kubota will have the FEL and back blade put on for the winter plowing, and get washed, waxed, and lubed.

Last mowing was about a month or so ago, middle of September. Remove the deck, remove the blades, scrape/blow off what I can, take it to the car wash and give it a good cleaning all around. Spray a fresh coat of graphite paint on the bottom, grease and lube everything. Drag the snowblower out and work on getting that, tire chains, etc. mounted.
