Then tell me why the police aren't armed with digital cameras? There may be a benefit to taking the picture of a trespasser, but do you seriously think someone intent on breaking into an inhabited house, maybe intent on even more, is going to be deterred when a child pops out and says "Gotcha! You're on digital camera"?

I didn't suggest that I taught my children to shoot so they could shoot trespassers. I did so so they could protect themselves from someone who might try to enter the house.

45 minutes.... ridiculous.

45 minutes.... COMMON.

Don't bet your life on 911. The police are NOT there to protect you. They'll be there in time to take a report.

That's YOUR job.

The police are NOT there to protect you. Wow, sounds kind of insulting to men and women of law enforcement. I personally take exception to that statement. /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif As far as response time goes in Baltimore County Maryland response time is usually around 10-15 minutes or less. Even calls to the country response time is no where near 45 minutes.

I will say law enforcement can't gurantee our protection, and it takes 30 minutes for them to get to me. I refuse to let my family be victims. My wife and oldest daughter are proficient with firearms. If someone is willing to burglarize an occupied dwelling, then they are intent on doing the occupants harm. No doubt about that!
